Greetings, I'm a Licensed Professional Counsellor (LPC) based in Texas. I received my Masters from the University of North Texas and have been practicing for 19 years. Transitioning through life changes can be challenging, and having a therapist assist you through these transitions can be incredibly beneficial. Therapists can provide support, guidance, and tools to help navigate changes in relationships, careers, health, or any other aspect of life. They can help you explore your feelings, identify patterns or obstacles, and develop coping strategies to manage stress and uncertainty. Additionally, therapists can offer a safe and non-judgmental space for you to express yourself and work through any concerns or fears you may have about the transition process.

Debbie Gonzalez is a licensed mental health therapist in Texas that helps Latinx adolescents and adults break generational trauma and address cultural factors that prevent individuals from receiving appropriate mental health care. As a Latinx therapist, I understand how our culture perceives and feels about mental health. Being told it isn’t that bad, to get over it, or that it's something we don’t talk about are common phrases generationally taught. We shouldn’t blame our parents or guardians for the mindset that was taught to them about mental health; however, you can rewrite your history moving forward. Throughout the course of therapy, we will connect culture and mental health issues, such as anxiety, depression, stress, grief, or difficult life events, and learn how to overcome them through mindfulness techniques, CBT, and solution-focused strategies.

In my life, hope is not an end but a beginning. I have the power of choice. Fueled by hope, which is the belief that things will get better, I decided to focus on doing what it took to change my life. My road to hope helped me see and pursue solutions that were hidden behind a thick fog of despair due to growing up in a dysfunctional home. One thing I tell others is “you cannot give to others what you haven’t been taught”.

Hello,
Welcome to my private practice. My fundamental approach to therapy is person-centered and based on solution-focused methods. I endeavor to provide a safe place for you to feel seen and heard. Together we will explore and learn about your deepest inner world. We will examine your current ways of coping and explore how to transform them to better serve your needs here and now. I can help you uncover the impediments to effectively dealing with the challenges that life can bring and consider alternative approaches that serve you better.
On the whole, I see my role as being your guide in helping you identify the optimal and least disruptive path to your answers and your solutions. A guide is not just a fellow traveler – I will occasionally confront and disagree with you – but ultimately it is your path and your goal which I am privileged to witness and, at times, partake. On any fruitful journey, collaboration will be essential, and I am always joyful to begin our trek. I will place my trust in you as you do in me.
My ultimate goal is to help you gain the self-esteem and self-compassion necessary to nurture strong and healthy relationships with those you care about in your personal and work life. Significant relationships are subtly re-negotiated every day and I believe no relationship is more important than your relationship with yourself.

Seeking counseling can be quite nerve wrecking, not knowing what to expect, and often doubting that it will actually help. But, counseling doesn't have to be so complicated. Counseling is about building a trusting relationship with your therapist, knowing that you can talk about anything that comes to mind. You don't have to second doubt yourself, as counseling is all about you. It's a place where you will be understood, where you will be listened to, supported, and where the ultimate goal is to increase your overall well being.
I strive to provide clients with a safe and comforting environment, where they are free to express themselves. Clients will be able to explore their thoughts, current situations, address stressors, life changes, relationship conflicts, grief, and a multitude of issues.
