Everyone has their own unique story and I will work to understand yours. I work with a variety of people including individuals, couples and families from a wide variety of professions, family situations, race, age and religious affiliations. Some of the issues I have experience and success working with are sexual dysfunction, infidelity, communication issues, trauma, and mental disorders. My approach looks at the entire person and the “system” in and surrounding them. I examine elements of people’s lives like their physical well-being, emotional coping and conflict resolution skills. We will work together in developing helpful behaviors and collaborate to create a safe place to develop emotional and physical wellness.

As a therapist, I am deeply committed to creating a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. I believe in a client-centered, collaborative approach, where the therapeutic relationship is a partnership. I meet clients as equals, respecting them as the experts in their own lives, and providing unconditional positive regard. I recognize that clients’ struggles are often shaped by social, cultural, and political forces like gender, race, and class. I take an intersectional approach, understanding how various aspects of identity intersect to create unique experiences. I focus on empowerment—helping clients reclaim their voice, challenge societal norms, and recognize their inner strength. My approach is eclectic and tailored to each client’s needs. I integrate methods like Somatic Experiencing, EMDR, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to support healing, whether through trauma processing, emotional regulation, or shifting unhelpful thought patterns. I’m also trauma-informed, providing a safe space for clients to explore past experiences at their own pace. I value cultural humility and am committed to understanding the impact of cultural background on mental health. I strive to be inclusive, respecting each person’s unique worldview and lived experience. I see therapy as a strength-based process rather than a path to fixing someone. Clients are not broken but resilient individuals with the capacity to grow and heal. My goal is to support clients in reconnecting with their agency and personal power, empowering them to make choices that align with their true selves. Ultimately, I am an empathetic, compassionate therapist dedicated to the growth, healing, and empowerment of my clients, always working from a place of respect, authenticity, and social justice.

I want to personally welcome you to a space where healing, growth, and transformation are not only possible—but expected. With over 25 years of experience in the mental health field, I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside individuals from all walks of life through some of their most challenging, yet defining, moments. As a licensed clinical counselor for the past 7 years, a behavior analyst for 11 years, and a professional counselor for 15, I’ve devoted my life to helping others reclaim their strength and find meaning in the midst of difficulty. My counseling approach is rooted in empathy, shaped by experience, and guided by evidence. I combine cognitive and behavioral strategies with a solution-focused mindset—always working with you to uncover what’s working, what’s not, and how to move forward in a way that feels true to your goals and values. Together, we’ll develop practical, real-life strategies that bring relief, build resilience, and help you feel more like yourself again. In addition to my clinical work, I bring 22 years of experience as a professional educator. This has taught me how to meet people exactly where they are—with compassion, clarity, and the belief that knowledge can be a powerful force in the healing process. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, depression, life transitions, or simply feeling stuck, I want you to know: change is possible. And you don’t have to do it alone. If you’re ready to take the first step, I’d be honored to walk that journey with you.

Hi there, my name’s Stacee and I’m a transgender therapist who specializes in work with adult LGBTQ+ clients. There are so many parts to our shared experience: Trauma that’s related to our families-of-origin. For many of us, our families were our first bullies. Grief from our losses of intimate partners, lovers, friends, family, and pets. Anxiety and perfectionism that comes with trying to prove our worth in the world. Spiritual trauma from histories with shame-based religious systems. History with abusive or exploitative relationships, whether bullying bosses, predatory ex-partners or family members. Sometimes, we allowed ourselves to be exploited if it meant we could matter to someone. Weird shaming dynamics that exist within our queer subcultures around body image, shape, and size; our gender behaviors; and even social factors like a decision to live sober. Legitimate fear for our own lives and the safety of our families that’s in response to government actions. Our histories can show up in complicated ways: intrusive thoughts and nightmares, panic and anxiety, compulsive behaviors that once soothed us but now are destructive, cycles of depression. Then we experience guilt and shame that comes with the belief that we should ‘just get over it,’ just as we’ve had to forgive and get over so many things. Yet, there are some things we can't just get over on our own. This is the subject of my self-help book, The Healing Otherness Handbook. I look forward to meeting you and learning how I can help you get your fabulous back, or maybe discover it for the first time.

Hi there! My name is Brooke Elliott and I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Since 2018, I’ve worked in various mental health settings helping my community connect with resources that build self-esteem. I have been practicing as an individual therapist since 2021. Growing up with undiagnosed neurodivergence, shame and struggle marked my everyday interactions with my family and the world around me, as well as my view of who I was as a person. I learned what it felt like to be alone with my anxieties because I didn’t have the words to express to others what I was feeling on the inside. Learning that there was a reason for my struggles opened a new world of self-acceptance and empowerment, one that allowed me to take charge of my life and give myself the care I had been missing. Today, I get to work with people who struggle like I did to find a "method to their madness". Together, we'll get rid of the shame that stops you from finding the acceptance you deserve and work towards building a life that fits within your unique needs.

My passion for understanding the human mind led me to The University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, where I obtained my bachelor’s degree in psychology. Driven to deepen my knowledge and expertise, I pursued and earned my Ph.D. in Clinical Health Psychology from The University of North Texas (UNT) in Denton. Pursuing excellence then took me to Syracuse, NY, where I braved one of the coldest years of my life to complete my pre-doctoral internship at the State University of New York Upstate Medical University. However, the heart of Texas and the opportunity for a post-doctoral fellowship at The Menninger Clinic, an esteemed affiliate of The Baylor College of Medicine, called me back to Houston, which has warmly remained my home.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by Texas rather than a city like Dallas?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Texas from Houston to Austin! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Texas.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on a specific issue?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

What are the "Clients say I'm" badges?

Grow Therapy asks patients about their experience with therapists after they have had a certain number of sessions. After enough responses, we add those characteristics to their profiles to help you find the best online therapists for you. We're still working on collecting this information from all our therapists.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs.

Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
