Would you like to create space for work/ life balance? Would it be helpful to learn more about the connection between your behaviors, feelings, and thoughts? Are you ready to talk about coping strategies- both those that work and learn new ones? I work collaboratively with individuals and families to manage stressors, feelings of stress and anxiety, and cope with addictions. I help clients develop coping strategies that may challenge past thoughts and behaviors but lead toward the accomplishment of goals. Sometimes, it is simply reminding ourselves of what worked before and getting back on track and other times, it is about learning something never practiced before.

Finding a nonjudgmental therapist who values your insight into your own life can be a challenge. I wish for my clients to know that I respect their expertise on their own lives and am honored to be allowed in during a time that may feel vulnerable and uncertain. I take a holistic approach, acknowledging that personal challenges are not often the result of one simple problem. Therefore, we can work collaboratively to pursue a variety of solutions. A little bit about me, my name is Amanda Chilleme, I am a Florida and North Carolina Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Master’s Certified Addiction professional. I first hung my shingle in 2013, working with a dual diagnosis population of young adults. For the last 7 years I have been helping my clients identify intrinsically important goals, overcoming obstacles, and build the foundation for a better future. My specialty has been working with men and women struggling with both substance abuse and process or behavioral addictions; helping them to find the pathway to a life unencumbered by the shackles of their past. I also have years of experience treating clients with anxiety, depression, obsessive compulsive disorders, bereavement, trauma, attachment, and personality disorders. As a clinician, I utilize a human or client focused approach to counseling. I am not here to tell you the reason you called, or what you need to work on; you made the call, you already know the “what”. As a clinician, it is my job to help you understand the “why”, and eventually, the “how” (to fix it, overcome it, or just plain throw it away). At your first session, it is essentially a two-way interview; as I listen to your story/narrative, and the “rough draft” (as I lovingly call it) begins to unfold, WE as a team determine if 1) I am the right therapist for you, and 2) If you are the right client for me. If we both agree to move forward from the first session, identifying your goals will be your first assignment; giving you the opportunity to do this, helps me to better see how you think and interpret your barriers (i.e., stress, anxiety, depression, relationships, etc.). The second session, we begin to rank these goals, and identify the objectives that will help us to achieve these milestones together. I am your coach, teammate, and cheer leader! We will focus on one goal at a time. Remember “slow and steady wins the race”! As we reach the culmination of one goal, we will move on to the next. Whether you are just starting this process, or you have been in it for a while, I encourage you to plant that mustard seed, and watch just how beautifully you can grow. Schedule an appointment and begin to achieve the best thing of all, the very best version of you!

Hello, I'm a LCSW in the great state of North Carolina with 4 years of professional work experience working as a Psychotherapist on an assertive community treatment team. I have experience in helping clients with anxiety, depression, anger management, motivation, self-esteem, confidence, and developing self-care and coping skills. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. During the initial intake it is important to build a therapeutic relationship while obtaining a clear understanding regarding the expectations of the person being served. Once the intake has been completed it is important to develop a personal center plan in-order to work toward accomplishing short-term and long-term goals tailored to meet the unique and specific needs of the individual being served. Over the past 4 years I have been using evidenced based interventions CBT, ACT, and Psych Rehab to assist the people I serve with reducing the severity of their ongoing symptoms and problems. Taking the first step to sign up for therapy can take courage and I look forward to working with anyone who is looking to take that first step.

Hello! My name is Clover and I am a licensed clinical therapist and addiction specialist in the state of North Carolina and I use she/her pronouns. I look forward to the opportunity of learning and working together as part of our therapeutic process. I enjoy working with folks who are gender diverse and members of the LGBTQIA+ community who experience unique stressors and conflicts with their day-to-day lives. I also love working with folks who struggle with substance use either in addition to other life stressors or on its own. I started my clinical work with addiction and grew as a therapist and person to see people from a whole-person perspective. Our difficulties, conflicts, our stressors do not define us for who we are and when they prevent or delay us from becoming our authentic selves is where the therapeutic process blossoms. As a person who identifies as gender diverse, I have lived through many difficult life circumstances where I have learned and grown as a person. I have first-hand navigated through complex systems and emotionally wrought situations to become my authentic self and continue to do so. I believe everybody is always in a constant process of growing into our best selves and I hope to have the opportunity to work with you along this process too.

People can make better decisions if they have enough information and understanding about how counseling works. Here are some aspects of counseling and therapy as I perceive and practice it: Therapeutic counseling requires your active involvement including efforts to change any self-defeating thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. You will be asked to work both in and out of the therapeutic counseling sessions. I may occasionally request that you do “homework” (ok-not a formal request because life happens and inevitably it will be that you have life duties to attend to but maybe jotting things down or making notes for yourself kind of homework) by way of providing you with further reinforcement to concepts discussed in session or simply to prompt further insight and self- exploration. There are no instant, painless, or passive cures, no “magic pills”. Instead, there will be ongoing personal and spiritual growth that can occur with your conscious effort. Most likely, you will need to work on improving stress management, cognitions (e.g. beliefs and thought processes), emotional health, relationships, and your general lifestyle if counseling is to be successful. Sometimes change will be relatively easy but more often change takes much effort, time, and persistence. My hope for you is that you grow into your best self in the present and that that allows you to be your best version for your future. Therapy is about YOU and your needs. I specialize in trauma, mood, and anxiety disorders and am an LGBTQ++ ally and kink-aware professional.
