Hello, I am Shana Toney, a Licensed Professional Counselor. Over my lifetime I have always worked in human services. It was gratifying to work with clients in their time of need and support them through the process. Many of the clients would say they felt comfortable talking to me and I listened to their needs. Those years of serving the community led me to become a therapist. Once I became a therapist 8 years ago, I found my passion. I love having the opportunity and freedom to work with clients, helping them figure things out, learn to create change in their lives and coping with situations they have no control over. Change is not easy but possible. My role as a therapist is to walk with clients to help create their change and happiness they desire.

I value authenticity, empathy, and self-awareness, both for myself, my clients, and as a critical part of the therapeutic process (I also take advantage of the healing power of laughter whenever possible!). I aim to normalize and validate my clients’ experiences without judgment, and above all, provide the most basic of human needs: to feel seen and heard. My name is Stephanie (or Stevie, either is fine) and I have been providing therapy in NJ exclusively via telehealth for about the last 5 years (prior to that, in person). I have a deep passion and respect for the power of therapy to change lives, which I have been privileged to witness in my work with clients, as well as in my personal life, both through the consistent use of therapy as part of my own self-care, as well as having spent the last 20 years raising two children with special needs. If you have been struggling with symptoms of depression or anxiety, particularly if they are related to a traumatic experience, I would love the opportunity to work with you to reduce your symptoms and help you experience a present that is not overshadowed by your past. I love working with women ages 20 to 30-something who are still in academia or just starting out in their careers, but also love working with women of any age. I frequently work with survivors of child sexual abuse, as well as those struggling with issues related to self-worth, but work with other conditions as well.

Welcome! I'm passionate about helping others find healing and wholeness. My desire is to help you know and understand yourself deeply, find healing from the past, and move from a place of "stuckness" to living a rich and meaningful life. I work with adults struggling with depression, anxiety, grief and loss, relationship issues, and poor self-image. I have extensive experience treating complex trauma and substance abuse, and as a Certified DBT Therapist, I specialize in treating Borderline Personality Disorder. I'm also a Certified Religious Trauma Specialist. I believe that one of the most underrated experiences is loss, including the end of significant relationships. I can help you navigate the grief, find meaning in the loss, and build hope moving forward. I believe that change best happens when we learn to accept where we are while simultaneously challenging ourselves to do better. My desire is to accept you wholly as you are, without judgement.

As a neurodivergent Black woman living with a chronic illness and mother of three adult children, two of whom identify with the LGBTQ+ commmunity, I am always interested in the deeper question people carry about their lives. Many of the individuals I work with are thoughtful, capable people who have spent years showing up for others, meeting expectations, and doing what seemed like the responsible thing to do. At some point, though, many begin to notice a quiet sense that something no longer fits. My work centers around helping people slow down enough to understand what is actually happening beneath that feeling. Together we look at the patterns, experiences, and internal narratives that shape how you see yourself and the choices available to you. From that place, people often begin to rediscover a clearer sense of who they are and what direction their lives might take moving forward. I am especially drawn to working with adults navigating identity shifts, relationship transitions, and moments in life where the path forward is no longer obvious.

Hi, I’m Tiffany Wright, a licensed psychotherapist who takes a holistic, mind–body approach to healing. I believe therapy isn’t just about understanding your thoughts — it’s about reconnecting with yourself in a deeper, more compassionate way. I’ve been working in mental health since 2010 and have experience supporting adults, adolescents, and families in settings such as crisis programs, schools, and intensive outpatient care. Over time, my work has evolved to focus on helping people who feel overwhelmed, disconnected from themselves, or stuck in patterns that no longer serve them. My approach blends evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), along with Mindfulness and Somatic practices. I’m also a Registered Yoga Teacher with advanced training in therapeutic yoga, which informs how I help clients understand and regulate their nervous systems. I’m especially passionate about helping people rebuild their relationship with themselves — developing self-trust, self-compassion, and a stronger sense of identity. In our work together, we explore not only what’s happening in your life, but how your mind and body are responding to it. My style is compassionate, grounded, and direct. I aim to create a space where you feel genuinely supported while also developing practical tools for meaningful change.

I believe therapy works best when it feels human, safe, and real. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who enjoys walking alongside people as they sort through life’s challenges and begin to understand themselves more clearly. Many of the individuals I work with feel anxious, stuck, disconnected, or unsure of their direction. My role is to help you slow down, gain insight, and move forward with greater clarity and confidence. My work is grounded in Internal Family Systems (IFS), Gestalt therapy, and Bowen’s concept of differentiation. In simple terms, that means we explore your thoughts, emotions, and patterns with curiosity rather than judgment. We look at the different “parts” of you that may be in conflict and help you develop the ability to stay true to yourself while staying connected to others. Over time, this often leads to healthier boundaries, stronger relationships, and a deeper sense of balance. I value honest conversation and believe meaningful growth comes from awareness paired with action. Therapy with me is collaborative and compassionate, but also practical. I want you to leave sessions with insight you can actually apply in your daily life. On a personal note, I’m married and a proud father of four adult children. I enjoy traveling, spending time on the golf course, and continuing to grow both personally and professionally. I believe growth doesn’t stop at any stage of life, and I try to live that belief myself. If you’re ready to understand yourself more fully and create lasting change, I’d be honored to support you in that process.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has dedicated my professional life to the advancement of the human species. What do I mean by the advancement of the human species? Well, no one ever taught us how to be mindful of thought patterns; to be aware of our own scars and biases, no one gave us an instruction book when it comes to dealing with our emotional life and the emotional lives of others. Scary, those big feelings can be. Unless, you have a plan. That is where therapy comes in. We work together to develop plans to assure you accomplish the goals you set for yourself.

Thank you for taking the time to take a look at my profile! Therapy should be uniquely tailored to each person. I work with clients to identify patterns of behavior that may have contributed to difficulties in relationships—with family, friends, or at work or school—and help find ways to create positive change. We learn to change our perspective on life, our past, our entire reality, and recognize that we really can control how we think and what we think about. One of the primary purposes of coming to therapy is to be heard. I am here to listen and work with you to come up with a solution to the problem or issues you may be having. I've worked with many clients coping with anxiety and depression, in particular, which has led to the development of a different approach that combines parts of a few different proven techniques. This approach is designed to change your perspective on your mental illness and learn new ways to cope, adjust, and adapt. We work together to find what works! Personally, I have been managing numerous forms of anxiety (including, at times, OCD and PTSD), depression, and bipolar II disorder since my early teen years, with about a decade battling addiction. Thankfully, I had the support of my family, my wife, my two daughters, and our multiple rescue pups. They're all the motivation and inspiration I need!

My name is Toni Ann Fontana, LCSW, and I bring over a decade of social work experience, including four years as a clinical therapist. I’ve had the privilege of working with a wide range of populations across diverse settings—hospital systems, intensive outpatient programs, and general outpatient care—which has shaped me into an adaptable, open-minded, and culturally responsive clinician. My experience includes supporting individuals with autism, children and adolescents, trauma histories, co-occurring disabilities, chronic illness, dementia, and caregivers, among others. This breadth of experience allows me to meet clients where they are, tailor evidence-based strategies to their unique needs, and hold space for growth in a way that feels collaborative and human. I’m passionate about helping clients navigate complex life challenges, build practical coping skills, and feel understood, all while honoring their individual experiences and identities.

Broadly speaking, my therapeutic aproach of counseling falls into a behavioral model through which I usually work to address the problems identified. I pride myself for being a thoughtful therapist who manages to get those to talk and explore a different perspective on the identified issues. Quite simply, and through various and applicable therapeutic modalities, I recall past details and tie them together with new facts to help clients better understand themselves.

I know anxiety and depression. I know how it feels to fall down over and over and believe like you're destined to fall again. I also know firsthand how changing our thinking can help us to overcome even the most daunting challenges. I've helped countless people make significant progress in every aspect of their lives. I utilize established modalities like CBT, ACT and Motivational Interviewing, but I also know the value of listening.

If you are a Millennial or Gen Z adult and find yourself struggling to keep a routine or balance priorities in your life and are getting stuck processing, procrastinating, or excessively stressing-you're not alone. Loops of anxious thoughts, exhausting rituals or constant rumination can make your daily life feel overwhelming and out of control. I specialize in treating OCD and anxiety using Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). ERP is a structured approach to face feared thoughts and situations while resisting the urge to perform compulsions. CBT helps manage generalized anxiety with proven, structured tools for lasting change. Healing starts with one small, courageous step—and that step might simply be sending an email or making a phone call. I’m here to support you when you’re ready. You don’t have to keep managing this alone. Let’s begin this together

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by New Jersey rather than a city like Newark?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in New Jersey. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across New Jersey from Jersey City to Paterson! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in New Jersey.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on a specific issue?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What happens during the first therapy session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
