Hi, I’m a Licensed Master Social Worker, Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and Certified Advanced Alcohol & Drug Counselor. I’ve worked in counseling in clinics, schools, psychiatric hospitals and my own clinic. I have 40 years experience. I enjoy my job and get great satisfaction from helping people feel accomplished. I use many methods of counseling to achieve client's objective. I believe that only working together with trust can things be achieved. With trust the therapist can talk about things that make the client feel bad. Helping clients see self-defeating behavior via cognitive behavioral therapy helps the client attempt different methods to deal with their problems.

We often go through life managing internal struggles, while attempting to navigate our circumstances. Often by seeking greater understanding into ourselves and our relationships, we may come face to face with our deepest doubts and fears. Avoiding struggles and pain opens up the possibility for dysfunction, negativity, and neglect. Our mental health is not as neat as our "shoulds" and "shouldn'ts" would have us believe.

My name is Robert Kaiser and I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), National Certified Counselor (NCC), and a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC) in Michigan. You can take a look at my profile to learn a little bit more about my background and approach. Please also feel free to ask questions. Online counseling is fairly new, and I've found it to be really effective for issues like the ones you mentioned in your message.
My counseling style is pretty laid back. I have been described as supportive, caring, and compassionate, with a pretty good sense of humor. I like to focus on identifying your strengths and helping you to maximize them to overcome your obstacles. I'm here to help you sort through the things that are difficult right now, and offer you a safe place to be open and honest without fear of judgment. Therapy offers a safe place to explore your thoughts and feelings. Asking for help takes a lot of courage but can be extremely rewarding. I look forward to working with you.

I am a therapist passionate about listening to the stories of others. I provide a safe space to tackle difficult issues and heal from the affects of trauma. In the past I found myself in therapy, and when my therapist helped me improve the quality of my life I decided I wanted to sit in his chair one day. I've devoted my career to that pursuit.
You may be seeking therapy due to crippling anxiety, exhausting depression or to lift the weight trauma has placed on you. You may want to learn strategies to improve your focus and move you closer to your goals. Perhaps you want to get closer to loved ones and communicate in a healthier way with those around you. Whatever you bring I am here to guide you through it so you can then guide yourself through life. I'm confident that if we work together you can make changes, feel better and get more out of life.

My approach to therapy is guided by the belief that we all innately know what we need for ourselves and those answers are within our hearts and spirit. With that, I approach therapy from a person-centered and non-directive lens. Our work together will focus on motivating your self-expression, uncovering your strengths, and identifying humanizing experiences to uncover and identify patterns of dysfunction that may no longer be serving you.
I strongly use motivational interviewing, solution-focused approaches, EMDR, spirituality, and a psychodynamic lens in her practice to process trauma, uncover deep emotions, and work through day-to-day routines and interactions to make room for healing and understanding.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC) in the State of Michigan. As a therapist, my goal is to assist my clients in working through issues that negatively affect them in their daily lives. I use integrative approaches to therapy (i.e., mindfulness, relaxation, etc.). As both a salutogenic psychotherapist and a neurotherapist I understand that the source of complex PTSD is past experiences and their need for reconciliation. Therefore, clients are offered a variety of curative therapies. The success rate of salutogenic trauma-informed therapy is over 90% as compared to the 20-30% efficacy of conventional CBT therapy. The success of therapy is fundamentally based on the therapeutic relationship built between the client and the therapist, therefore I am here to support, empower, and work with you.

My name is Sue Nelson and I have been a Therapist for 24 years. Before that, I was an RN and a teacher. They all blend together well. It has been a very long time since I have had a client with a concern that I have not helped others with previously. Let me know on this site if you would like to take the opportunity to heal.
If you live in the UP come to in-person therapy!
