Life is tough and we are living in traumatic times. We’re surrounded by problems that often have few solutions, and we’re forced into societal routines that push us away from who we truly are and what we truly love. Despite the difficulties you may experience, I believe in your ability to heal, find strength in your discomfort, and exist in ways that are empowering and life-enhancing. And as a healer/wellness worker, I’m here to help you do just that! As a Black woman and decolonized therapist, my practice prioritizes and caters to the unique mental health needs of Black and Brown individuals - especially those with feminine and LGBTQ+ identities. Folks who are most drawn to work with me are those who are looking to integrate cultural and collective values into their therapeutic experience, while also working on their personal needs and struggles.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social worker based in Bowling Green, KY who has an obsession with Dolly Parton, Pekingese dogs, and New Orleans. I cuss sometimes, I can't cook, and I can juggle. I have also been in practice since 2017 and have worked with clients experiencing substance abuse, severe anxiety, ADHD, depression, racial trauma history, sexual trauma, and grief and loss. I believe that therapy can awaken parts of us that hold more strength than we know and that learning more about those parts of ourselves is vital to healing. Therapy gives back to us the power and the peace that might be eluding us because of pain and confusion of trauma or neglect. I have seen the way therapy can heal and inspire change, and it is the highest honor of my life to walk alongside my clients in their journey. As a therapist, I still haven't found magic words to make it all better or take it all away. But in sessions with me, you will feel heard and seen. I will always keep your life and therapy goals in mind. I will support and challenge you with humor and sincerity. And did I mention that sometimes I cuss? When you're ready, I'm here.

I am a therapist specializing in adult mental health and addiction disorders. I have 10 years of experience providing individual, group, and couples therapy. I have worked in both inpatient and outpatient environments. I offer individual, self-pay only couples counseling, and Board of Nursing evaluations. Individual counseling is billed through insurance or self-pay at $100 per hour. Couples counseling is $150 per hour. Board of Nursing evaluations are billed out-of-pocket due to the extensive paperwork/correspondence involved. However, follow-up visits can be billed through insurance if I am in-network with your insurance company. There is a no-show fee of $100. There is a late cancellation (less than 24 hours) fee of $100. My mission is to be used by God to help others reach their highest potential and purpose in life; to represent and teach tolerance, respect, and harmony; and to promote social and economic justice. I believe that all people regardless of race, culture, age, gender, religion, physical or mental disability, and sexual orientation are entitled to basic rights and fair, humane treatment. I believe that all members of society should have the same basic rights, protections, opportunities, obligations, and social benefits. My practice is governed by the belief that you are a valuable human being. You have the right to express your ideas and opinions openly. You have the right to direct and govern your life. You have the right to stand up for yourself without anxiety and make choices that are good for you. You have the right to change your mind. You have the right to not be liked by everyone. You have the right to be wrong. You have the right to make requests and refuse them without feeling guilty. You have the right not to be responsible for others’ behaviors, actions, feelings, or problems.

Reaching out for help in the form of therapy is not an easy thing to do as many can attest, but by reading this biography, you are taking the first step in getting help for yourself or a loved one. At times, life offers many struggles and obstacles that can be difficult to overcome alone. Engaging in therapy will provide opportunities to explore and process the thoughts and feelings that prevent you from living your best life. Though the thought of therapy may be intimidating and even nerve-wrecking for some, I believe once a person finds the right therapist, they find a trusting confidant who seeks to understand and problem solve.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by Kentucky rather than a city like Louisville?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Kentucky from Bowling Green to Lexington! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Kentucky.

Will my therapist take AvMed?

Yes! If you use AvMed you’ll be asked to verify your Member ID at the time you book the appointment. However, if you don’t have AvMed you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on Racism?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need. For example, your selected specialty, Racism, is filtering therapists in Kentucky that work with patients with similar concerns.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs.

Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
