I was a teacher for many years, then went for my masters in social work. Life has many twists and turns. Sometimes we can feel off balance or are suffering from depression or anxiety. We’ve all had our ups and downs and getting back on track and feeling our best is a goal I enjoy helping people achieve the life they want.

Migdalia Villafane or “Dalia” as she prefers to be called believes that the therapeutic relationship is to assist individuals through therapy, changing the individuals’ lives for the better. Because this relationship is so essential, she believes it is important that she provides a safe, open and non-judgmental atmosphere where an individual can feel at ease. She knows that no single approach is the right one for every individual, so, she utilizes a range of therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solutions Focused, Family Systems, as well as mindfulness training. Her educational background includes an MSW from the University of Southern California and she is licensed in the state of California as an LCSW.

I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LIC# 45270). I began my training as a psychotherapist in 1994, with a focus on working with couples, adults and families, particularly clients with a history of trauma and significant losses. Since earning my license in 1998 i have acquired 25+ years of experience and can say I am truly passionate and dedicated to helping couples, adults and family grow and heal from their pain and live happy, enjoyable lives with their loved ones.

Dr. Elena Balashova-Shamis is a highly experienced, licensed clinical psychologist who works with children, adults, and the elderly. She is trained as a psychoanalyst and provides integrative, personalized treatments. She teaches at five local universities, including UCLA’s medical school. She is known for her presentations, publications, and dissertation advising. She also works with family and criminal law courts as an expert witness.
