I am an older woman, who simply grew up confused within most of my own life. Things in my family were hard, and there seemed to be nobody who had any answers, so I grew up trying to figure things out, and I did not always do a great job. I now do a much better job in my own life, and here to help others with figuring out their own life paths, choices, anxieties/depressions/etc. My struggles eventually lead me to this role, as a therapist, a counselor, teacher, guide, support for the many others who are having a hard time figuring "it" out. I use a direct, honest, root-digging approach that seeks to heal at the core, allowing for release of attachments and agreements made long ago - many of these lead to feelings/thoughts/behaviors within shame, guilt, feelings of being a burden or just not good enough, codependency, anger, anxieties, depressions, people-pleasing - simply to just survive the day.

In my practice, I help adults alleviate the mental health symptoms of anxiety, depression, relationship problems, and other common stressors. My clients become empowered to live the life they really want and to consciously evolve for their betterment as a person.
I’m committed to showing up as a genuine person who allows everyone to authentically express themselves without judgment. I care about my client’s wellbeing and I’m here to help you feel heard and your difficulties taken seriously, no matter your circumstances.
My approach to treatment is collaborative, and each session is designed to provide a safe and reliable space for you to explore the depths of your thoughts, feelings, and concerns. I apply evidence-based therapeutic practices to help you construct inner resilience to eventually achieve optimal functioning, while preventing the development of other mental health disorders.
When clinically indicated, I use therapeutic tools like diagnostic self-report scales for screening diagnosis and severity of disorder, and I diagnose mental health disorders with an inclusive mindset to support cultural beliefs and influences.
My clients have appreciated my ability to make others feel good about themselves, their self-determination, culture, ethnicity, and sexual orientation. In addition, I’ll recommend beneficial resources to increase your self-understanding and offer you human connection to your community.

My approach draws on psychoanalytic thinking, which revolves on one central idea: much of what we think and feel remains outside of our awareness.
Sometimes we keep powerful feelings hidden so we can continue moving through the day, or we simply cannot find time to reflect on everything that is happening to us.
In any case, keeping these potent experiences hidden may leave us feeling stiff, dreary, unfulfilled, or even numb and dull.

Hello, my name is LaShonda. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist from a very small town in Georgia. However,I have lived in California since 2004. Prior to moving here I have lived in Washington state for 4 years. I joined the military at the dapper age of 18 and served my country for 13 years. I received a bachelor's in Legal Studies prior to leaving the military in 2012. After careful deliberation I decided that I no longer wanted to pursue a career in law and that I was more fascinated with human behavior. I then started a dual master's program in Counseling Psychology and Marriage and Family Therapy in San Diego, California. I received my masters in 2015 and decided to take a step further and obtain my PhD in marriage and family therapy, with an emphasis on military families. I am currently a PhD candidate a Northcentral university where I am within the process of completing research on military relationships. I am a certified clinical trauma professional, trained in Sex-trafficking, Post traumatic stress, CBT, DBT as well as clinical family trauma.
