About Me: I am a white, queer, disabled, non-binary femme. My pronouns are they/them/theirs. I have worked as a therapist in a variety of settings, including inpatient mental health facilities, outpatient community mental health services, womens' shelters, and university settings. I am a certified trauma therapist and have worked with a variety of different types of trauma expressions including developmental and attachment trauma, sexual trauma, and vicarious trauma and burnout. I enjoy accompanying people on gender journeys, grief journeys, and body trust journeys. I also feel deeply drawn to supporting activist-minded people and organizers. I believe that no space is apolitical, therapy spaces included. I have worked with individuals dealing with a variety of concerns, including depression, anxiety, stress management, intimacy issues, self esteem issues and body dissatisfaction, eating issues, complicated grief, and trauma-related stress. I am a gender-affirming therapist and I have significant experience with counseling trans + queer individuals of all ages and backgrounds. I am also a polyamory, kink, and sex work affirming therapist. Trainings: In 2021, I completed my certification in Body Trust (created by the Center for Body Trust (formerly known as Be Nourished, LLC), a weight-inclusive framework rooted in body liberation and intended to help individuals be in compassionate relationship to their bodies. I have also been trained in EMDR and Brainspotting, Phases 1 & 2. I have also attended an Embodied Leadership training with Staci Haines and the Strozzi Institute, Transformative Justice training with Spring Up Collective, and Anti-Oppressive Mental Health training with Fireweed Collective. Other trainings I am (or have been) moving through in the coming year (2022-2023) are Foundations of Internal Family Systems (September 2022-present), a certificate program in Narrative Therapy with NTI (September, 2022-May, 2023), Decolonizing Therapy for Black Folks with Shawna Murray-Browne LCSW-C (January 2023-May, 2023), and Somatic Experiencing (March 2023-September, 2026). Work Outside Therapy Space: Outside of my small therapy practice, I work as an Assistant Professor for a graduate social work program where I teach clinical skills to graduate social workers. I also teach classes in research, social policy, trauma, human sexuality, and topics of oppression and liberation. Additionally, I work as a guest speaker and facilitator of self-awareness workshops for graduate counseling students as well as speaking on feminist critique of the DSM and clinical considerations for working with transgender, non-binary and gender expansive clients. I also do work as a consultant assisting organizations with engagement in difficult conversations, assistance with relational repair, as well as assisting organizations in the implementation of trauma-informed practices.

Feelings are a natural, unavoidable, and sometimes overwhelming part of life. Our day to day lives are filled with ups and downs and as humans, we need to connect and talk about them. So, my role, as a Licensed Professional Counselor, is to foster a safe and warm environment and to encourage an open dialogue. During therapy, any thought, feeling and behavior can be discussed, those ups and downs will feel less overwhelming and become much more manageable. If you're an adult struggling with anxiety, depression, feeling unmotivated, burnout, experiencing challenges with friends or family, have codependency/boundary issues, experiencing grief and loss, and/or relationship concerns - I can help you navigate these feelings and offer a path forward. Starting therapy can be intimidating, but I will do my best to make you feel comfortable. I'm committed to our therapy and success. Let's get started!

Are you struggling in your relationships? Maybe disruptive behavior is making it difficult to connect with your teenager. Maybe you are struggling in your relationship with your partner or even in the relationship you have with yourself. Hi! I’m Samantha and I work together with my clients, who include adolescents, adults, and families, to find realistic and creative solutions to the struggles they are facing. I enjoy drawing on the strengths of my clients and being a part of their journey of making the changes they want in their lives. Over the last 12 years, I’ve helped my clients with a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, disruptive behaviors, supporting individuals and families living with autism spectrum disorder and improving social skills. I do my work under the umbrella of the family systems approach. Knowing that therapy is not a one size fits all, I employ the use of play therapy, CBT, psychodynamic, structural family therapy, solution-focused, narrative and attachment-based therapy. If you are ready to begin your journey toward change that works for you, reach out to me and we can begin to craft the deeper relationships that you want in your life.

My name is Lauren DeTurk and I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor at Grow Therapy. I’ve been working in the mental health field since I was 18 years old and I’m currently 42 years old. I started off working as a recreational aid for Kidspeace at a camp called Sarah’s Smile located in Orefield, PA working with children ages 3 to 8 years old with autism spectrum disorders and from there I worked as a therapeutic staff support or TSS also with Kidspeace working with children and their families with autism spectrum disorders in the home, school, and community. I also moved from there to working still with the same company at Kidspeace as a mental health worker at a partial school-based classroom called Advances in Temple, PA with adolescents ages 13-14 years old who were kicked out of their home school district due to challenging behaviors combined with mental health disorders. I was in graduate school at the time at Kutztown University also known as KU in the marital and family therapy program and my internship was at Berks Counseling Center in Reading, PA working with adult men and women with substance abuse issues and/or co-occurring disorders such as mental illnesses. I did individual and group therapy while I was interning there. December 5, 2008 I graduated from KU with my Master of Arts in Marital & Family Therapy and from there I went to work at Chester County Mental Health and Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities as a Supports Coordinator (Caseworker) working with children and adults with autism spectrum disorders or mental illness or intellectual and developmental disabilities. I was named Rookie of the year out of 200 new employees at the county. I then worked at Keystone Autism Services working with adults with autism spectrum disorders as Behavioral Health Specialist and supervising 10 Community Support Professionals or CSPS. Then I moved to Wyomissing, PA and worked as a Family Based Therapist at Philhaven now called Wellspan in the home, school, and community with a co-therapist following a strict 32 week structural family therapy model with children ages 3-18 years old with serious emotional disturbances and/or mental health disorders and their families videotaping individual and family therapy sessions. I’d present at The Centers For Family Based Training in front of 150 therapists showing videotapes of family therapy sessions that my clients signed consents for and received feedback on my therapeutic skills & interventions. Shortly thereafter I became engaged and moved to Kutztown, PA where I got a job working at Berks County Prison as a Licensed Mental Health Practitioner overseeing 200 inmates on suicide watch and doing suicide assessments on a daily basis. I was responsible for keeping them safe and I had to check on them every 10-15 minutes. From there I worked at Child Guidance Resource Centers in Coatesville, PA as a Multisystemic Family Therapist working with teenagers and their parents who had conduct disorders and/or substance abuse disorders providing individual and parenting therapy sessions. Most of my clients were on probation and had been in juvenile detention centers. After working at Child Guidance Resource Centers I got a job working at Reading Hospital as an Integrated Care Clinician/ LPC embedded in an OBGYN practice 4 days a week working with women with depression and others with postpartum depression and/or postpartum psychosis. I worked 1 day away at a Pain Management Center/Clinic providing individual therapy for those struggling with chronic pain and/or opioid dependence which brings me to now working at Grow Therapy as a Licensed Professional Counselor. My specialties are PTSD, Anxiety Disorders such as Generalized Anxiety Disorder, OCD, Agoraphobia, Panic Disorder, and other mental health disorders including Depression, Postpartum Depression, Bipolar Disorder, eating disorders, substance abuse disorders, and Personality Disorders such as Borderline Personality Disorder, Narcissistic Personality Disorder, and Histrionic Personality Disorder.

Finding a kink-friendly therapist isn't easy; WE KNOW! Understanding the complexities of your lifestyle is not for the faint of heart. You can't tell just anyone that you love wearing/holding a collar, dressing as another gender, or the sweet smell of a woman's shoes. Or, can you? Being different is not a novel concept; being understood is. Some days, it's difficult to understand yourself, so how could a therapist possibly begin to wade through it all? The complexity only deepens when you can't even discuss these issues with your own partner. The desperation builds. The isolation intensifies. Your online search yields little success. Until now. Come as you are to therapy; you don't have to leave your home. Wear the collar. Own that dress. Use your "footstool". Glam yourself up, be your true "you". With over 17 years of experience working with BDSM, kink, fetish, D/s dynamics, ENM, Poly, and other alternative lifestyles. You know you're entering a safe space without judgement. Call, text, or email to schedule a FREE 20 minute consultation. During that time, we will discuss your specific needs and exactly how I will address them in treatment. You've waited long enough to find a therapist that understands the complexities of kink and alternative lifestyles - don't wait any longer to begin your journey!

Jermain's approach focuses on creating opportunities for personal growth, restorative health, and emotional healing. Jermain is born in raised in the Philadelphia region and spent the first half of his life living in the South Philadelphia region. As a young child, Jermain struggled with understanding how the trauma that he experienced as a result of living in poor socio-economic conditions negatively impacted his emotional growth and development. As Jermain sought support and was able to overcome his own personal traumas, he recognized the need to play a role in helping others to also become their best versions of themselves. As a child, Jermain was exposed to community violence, and an unstable home because of substance use, neglect, and extreme bullying. Through God’s grace Jermain was able to overcome his emotional challenges and went on to serve in the United States Army for over 6 years. Initially and obtains two graduate-level degrees in counseling. Jermain sought to have a career in enforcement; however, in the year of 2011, Jermain’s father passed away from heart disease that was triggered by long-term use of substances. Thus, out of tragedy Jermain developed the desire to want to become well-versed in the conditions negatively impacting the development of his community from a clinical orientation by working toward obtaining a professional license in Counseling. Jermain is clinically trained by the Beck Institute and certified to provide cognitive behavior therapy. Thank you for looking into choosing me as a therapist. I'm glad you're looking for help. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 30 years of experience. I received my undergraduate degree in English Literature (and Spanish Literature) from Swarthmore College and my Master's degree in Social Work from Widener University. I am certified as a Clinical Trauma Professional. I see adults over the age of 18 and I primarily empower people to overcome trauma. I use EMDR, Cognitive Therapy, DBT, the Structural Dissociation Model (parts work), and Psychodynamic Therapy among other approaches. I work eclectically, pulling from different therapies to match what you need. I really enjoy the work I do. And I enjoy including poetry, literature, and drama into therapy as a way of exploring ways of recovering with you. As a recovered trauma survivor myself, I appreciate how hard it can be to work through trauma and how freeing it is to have worked it through. Hello, and welcome! My name is Amber Stewart, and I’m a licensed professional counselor (LPC) out of Western Pennsylvania. I'm a trauma-informed counselor, and I specialize in anxiety, self-esteem, depression, and trauma. I want to help you go from just tolerating the symptoms of your anxiety, depression, or trauma to living fully in the present. You deserve to live the life you envision for yourself, and I want to help you do that by exploring the areas you’re struggling with, teaching you ways to cope, and reducing the impact that these symptoms have on your life by addressing them at their core. I believe that underlying most (if not all) mental health concerns is some kind of trauma – and, there’s many studies that support my belief that trauma is connected to depression, anxiety, and other mental health concerns. I invite you to learn more about my approaches to therapy, trauma, and trauma therapy by visiting my website: www.everystepforward.com I'm strong on empathy, open-mindedness, and curiosity, and I help those I work with use those same skills when looking at how their past shows up in the present. I use a mindfulness-based approach along with techniques backed by decades of research to help people manage anxiety and depression and improve low self-esteem and self-care.
