Hello, I am Shari. Are you looking for someone you can feel safe to address your needs and not feel judged? Are you looking for someone authentic and supportive? Are you having difficulty finding someone who will be honest and direct? I work well with anyone who is motivated to start addressing their concerns right away. I believe finding the right therapist can be challenging, but it should not be a barrier to getting help. Finding a therapist should feel comfortable and natural. I am told I have a way of helping people feel as if they have known me before. I like to get an understanding of the source of your problem. Then together we explore how the source influences your thinking. People live life through their experiences which do not always serve us very well in today's time. I also believe in working from a holistic approach. Did you know our daily routines can prolong your recovery or cause mental instability? I have experienced being in a therapeutic relationship and believe in normalizing the need to get help in this way.

It is fair to say there are a lot of stressors in our society, some so large they can have a huge impact on how we enjoy and navigate our lives. I'm here to tell you it isn't all in your head, you're not alone, and it is ok to ask for help. I am a licensed clinical social worker offering virtual therapy to individuals in Louisiana and Texas. I utilize a client-centered approach, meaning you are the expert in your own life and I am here only to assist you in reaching your goals. Trauma-informed care is a very important part of the services I provide, as I specialize in working with survivors of trauma, with expertise in abuse and assault. I believe it is necessary to acknowledge traumatic experiences throughout our lives and how those experiences may shape our worldview. Trauma is incorporated into the majority of the work I do with clients, it looks different for us all but it exists in some capacity. I am lucky to have had opportunities in my career that have allowed me to expand my practice to include working with individuals experiencing chronic illnesses. I provide a space where folks with chronic illnesses can share openly about the confines of their illnesses and receive validation around those feelings, sometimes for the first time. Most of the time clients are having a very normal reaction to an abnormal situation, no one prepares us for the possibility of chronic illness and little support is available for those who experience it. Lastly, as a queer woman, it is important to me that I provide quality care for LGBTQ teens and adults. Too often, we cannot find providers who hold identities similar to our own. The last few years have allowed me to work with LGBTQ teens in my area and I have learned a great deal from them. I hope to continue this work for some time while growing my practice and providing quality care to anyone who is interested in working with me.

My mission is to be a servant to others by empowering and helping you on your path to emotional wellness. I have helped children, teens and adults with anxiety, depression, mental health disorders, relationship conflict, and parenting concerns; assisted others to heal from acute abuse, childhood and adult traumas. I am also experienced with persons who have migrated to the US from other countries and the barriers that are encountered with those changes. *** As a therapist and to increase the likelihood that therapy is effective, I recognize the importance of making sure a therapist is the right fit for a client and the issues that they are trying to address and work through. Therefore, it is my policy that potential clients have a FREE phone consultation up to 15 minutes with me prior to scheduling your initial session to further discuss your needs, my style, and to discuss my available time slots. You may schedule your free consultation by texting 225-308-1703 or emailing me at lakeytha@lgmrestorationwellness.org!*** As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I specialize in women's mental health working with women 18 yrs. and older. I believe every woman is unique! I believe in the power of transformation and restoration if one is willing to do the work. As women, we go through different phases of life and each phase may bring challenges that impact our mental and emotional well-being. Therefore, as a therapist specializing in women's mental health, my approach is holistic, acknowledging ALL the areas of the client's life that are impacting her mental and emotional well-being. My approach is to work towards the total woman (if so desired and as needed), one area at a time if necessary if it is contributing to her mental health challenges. My passion for working with women is to help my clients identify obstacles to her mental and emotional wellbeing and issues she may feel has been and continues to "hold her hostage" in her own life thus interfering with her day to day functioning. One of my sincerest desires as a therapist is to see my clients transform into the best version of herself according to her standards, not the standards of society! I am passionate about motivating and empowering women to embrace who they are, celebrating their strengths and uniqueness, and hopefully, simultaneously giving each client a fresh perspective on her life despite the obstacles and challenges she may face. Despite whatever mental and emotional challenges my clients face, whether it is anxiety depression, or adjusting to life transitions, I believe if they do the work, they can live a successful, productive life while being mentally and emotionally stable. Let's begin your journey to transformation and restoration-whatever that may look like to YOU!

I am a clinical social worker bringing a lifetime of experience to my work, helping clients to identify what's working and what's not; what is going well, and what they would like to change. I am a creative problem solver and excel at helping people get unstuck! I use my experience as a teacher, a human services professional, a small business owner and a clinical social worker to inform my practice and support client growth. I am eclectic in my approach, most often using cognitive behavioral therapy, brief therapy and positive psychology-- however I draw from other approaches and theories to meet the needs of the client. I am trained in trauma-focused CBT, substance abuse treatment and recovery, work with grief and loss, women's issues and strengths-based therapy. I identify as a long-time member of the LGBTQ community and am constantly striving to become more culturally sensitive and aware. Hi. Welcome to my Grow professional profile! Do you ever wonder, "What is going on."? If your inner dialogue is saying, "Yes that's me, exactly, finally somebody who gets it!" I believe that nobody actually has it all together, but that there are those that pretend like they have it all together but inside feel like an imposter making it day by day and those that don't pretend and are also making it day by day. I like spending time with my husband of many many many years and our 3 children, but mostly my dogs. I enthusiastically invite both those who are high functioning and those who are not functioning persons seeking to improve their overall wellbeing. I don't judge whether you are an LSU fan or a North Carolina fan. All can benefit from mental health services. (maybe one group of fans over the other). My current specific areas of clinical interests are of grief and pregnancy loss of which I constantly explore new treatment approaches and client experiences. I have over 25 years of clinical experience working with diverse classifications of diagnoses, ethnicity, ages, and cultural backgrounds. The most frequent symptoms I can help with are managing ADHD, Depression, Bipolar disorder, anxiety, trauma, parenting, burnout, insomnia, COVID trauma, grief, and anger. I utilize a mix of CBT and motivational interviewing low key with a fair amount of optimism because CBT helps measure things and motivational interviewing is more people-friendly. FYI I am an experienced LPC-S licensed by the LA licensed Professional Counselors Board of Examiners 3997. I am also a board approved supervisor in Louisiana. I am a LCMHC in the state of North Carolina (LPC) 19111. Seeking therapy can feel scary but you're making the right choice. You deserve a safe space to heal and grow. In our sessions together, I'll meet you with compassion and evidence-based techniques so you can overcome the hangups and habits holding you back. Let's work together!

You are a woman who has been devastated by grief over pregnancy loss, infertility, or postpartum depression and anxiety. You desperately want to find someone to talk to about how alone and sad you feel. You feel heartbroken, ashamed, and angry lately. Your world has stopped while everyone else seems to be living their best life. You find yourself having the same fights with your partner over and over again. Society glamorizes pregnancy and motherhood which can make you feel even more alone and misunderstood. If you see one more pregnancy announcement or social media post about the happiness of motherhood, you might lose it! Your baby is important to you no matter how much time you have spent with them. You want to learn how to keep your baby’s memory alive. You want to learn how to experience happiness during this new transition to motherhood. You want to feel heard by someone without shame or judgment. You are not alone. As a woman, I have been there.
