Board certified in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, a graduate of George Mason University. Filipino-American, with years of clinical experience in Asia, Middle East, and the United States. My upbringing has provided me with a firsthand awareness of the inherent inequalities and many obstacles that life may present that may push some individuals to severe mental stress or illness. Nevertheless, I choose to remain optimistic and resilient when confronted with challenges. Thus, I want to help individuals with mental health struggles- searching for hope and professional support. I follow evidence-based medications, however, I am CAUTIOUS about Polypharmacy. My approach is to view medication as a TOOL rather than a universal solution for all your mental health problems. Currently, I help individuals who struggle with mental health and substance use disorders. Passion drives my endeavors, both professionally and personally. I find immense fulfillment in the field of psychiatry, where I am privileged to witness the transformation of lives. I believe that mental well-being is THE cornerstone of health. My goal is to empower my clients, by helping them understand their diagnoses and the evidence-based medications available.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During the initial session, you can expect a thorough and compassionate process focused on data gathering and understanding your unique story. This foundational meeting is designed to create a safe and supportive environment where you feel comfortable sharing your experiences, challenges, and goals. We'll also discuss how we'll work together, then dive into your background- what's happening in your life right now, and any mental health issues you're facing. We'll look at your symptoms, your day-to-day life, and any other factors that might be affecting your mental health. At the same time, we'll talk about what you want to achieve through therapy. Whether it's dealing with certain symptoms, improving your relationships, or just personal growth, setting clear goals from the start helps make sure our time together meets your needs. Setting these goals together is a key part of creating a treatment plan that's based on solid evidence and tailored just for you. I'm here to listen carefully, understand your situation, and offer feedback with kindness and respect. Using the latest research and proven methods, we'll build a strong foundation for your journey toward wellness. This first session is just the start of a supportive relationship where, together, we'll tackle the challenges you're facing and work towards the positive changes you're aiming for.

My treatment methods

Christian Counseling

Christian counseling is a spiritually oriented therapeutic method that integrates Christian beliefs and values into the therapeutic process. I utilize this method to christians who seeks faith-based dimension to counseling, offering solace and guidance to clients seeking alignment between their mental health and their Christian faith. By incorporating Christian counseling, I enable clients to find strength and resilience through their spiritual convictions, fostering emotional and psychological healing in a context that is meaningful and empowering to them.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is a well-established and empirically supported method for addressing a wide range of mental health issues by exploring the interplay between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. In my personal and clinical practice, I adeptly employ CBT as a foundational therapeutic tool. Through structured and collaborative interventions, I help clients identify and challenge maladaptive thought patterns, facilitating constructive cognitive restructuring. This method, known for its effectiveness, empowers individuals to develop coping strategies and skills that foster emotional regulation and resilience.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) is a concise, impactful approach that emphasizes the immediate identification and implementation of practical solutions. This straightforward, insight-driven methodology prioritizes clear goal-setting and empowers patients to harness their existing strengths and resources to create immediate change. It's specifically designed for those READY to embrace transformation and take decisive steps towards their desired outcomes.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

DBT was originally developed to help manage borderline personality disorder but has since been adapted to treat a range of mental health issues, including depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD, and substance use disorders. The core principle of DBT is the concept of dialectics, or balancing opposites, which helps clients learn to accept themselves while simultaneously acknowledging the need for change. This therapy is structured around four key skill sets: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. Mindfulness practices foster increased awareness and presence in the moment. Distress tolerance skills are designed to increase a person’s tolerance of negative emotion, rather than trying to escape from it. Emotional regulation skills help manage and change intense emotions that are causing problems in a person’s life. Interpersonal effectiveness skills teach effective strategies for asking for what one needs, saying no, and coping with interpersonal conflict. DBT can significantly aid in stabilizing emotions, improving relationships, and fostering a greater sense of self-awareness and inner peace, making it a potent tool in the management of mental disorders.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is an evidence-based therapeutic approach that encourages individuals to embrace their thoughts and feelings rather than fighting or feeling guilty for them. ACT helps clients develop psychological flexibility, allowing them to live a meaningful life in alignment with their values despite the presence of painful or challenging experiences. This therapy is particularly beneficial for individuals dealing with chronic pain, anxiety, depression, and substance use disorders, as well as those who struggle with emotional regulation and stress. By focusing on acceptance and commitment to action that enriches one's life, ACT fosters a compassionate and non-judgmental attitude towards oneself, promoting overall mental well-being.
