I try to help people get through whatever issues they may be experiencing without judgement or attitude; to make sense of the past, present and future ....or at least be peaceful about it. Sometimes successfully managing ourselves through hard times is the cure. We come to see we can get through it all without burning down our world. We come to understand that we can navigate the Anxiety & Depression that are part of life, come out better on the other side and continue on towards growth and evolvement. Anxiety & Depression can be complex and complicated; just like you. While I tend to focus more on moving into the here and now for becoming the person you desire to be and be with, I am willing to explore past issues or traumas that may need some resolve in order for you to move on.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

...just to hear what's going on and see if I can help facilitate your journey through whatever you may be experiencing.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I am an older individual who has enjoyed other careers before becoming a Psychologist. I have lived in both urban and rural parts of the country and bring a strength of experience combined with a lack of judgment or attitude regarding my client's racial, ethnic, social or economic stature. Every person I work with is a unique individual worthy of respect and caring.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I work with all populations except for children and adolescents.

My treatment methods

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

“Dialectical” means combining opposite ideas. DBT focuses on helping people accept the reality of their lives and their behaviors, as well as helping them learn to change their lives, including their unhelpful behaviors.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a type of talk therapy that helps people understand how thoughts affect emotions and behaviors.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

a modified form of cognitive therapy that incorporates mindfulness practices that include present moment awareness, meditation, and breathing exercises. Simply said, it is hard to be in 2 places at once; remaining present is one place; anxiety and depression are another.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

This form of psychotherapy is grounded in the idea that people are inherently motivated toward achieving positive psychological functioning... that by using the core conditions of empathy, congruence and unconditional positive regard, the client would feel safe enough to access their own potential. The client would be able to move towards self-actualisation, to be able to find the answers in themselves.
