Javier does not controlled substances via tele-health. Javier is a highly qualified psychiatric nurse practitioner with extensive experience in managing mood disorders, particularly bipolar disorder. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Old Dominion University in 2019 and began working as a Charge Nurse at an inpatient substance abuse and mental health unit. Recognizing the need for more advanced knowledge and training, he went on to earn his Master of Science in Nursing from Old Dominion University and a Post-Master's certificate to become a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner from Shenandoah University. Javier tries to maintain safe prescribing virtually; therefore, he does not prescribe controlled medications such as Adderall, Alprazolam, Lorazepam, Clonazepam, etc. Currently, Javier is pursuing his Doctorate in Nursing Practice from Duke University, underscoring his commitment to ongoing professional development and education. With a niche in mood disorders, he understands the complexities of bipolar disorder and the challenges it presents to individuals. Javier strives to help his patients stabilize their racing thoughts and mood changes, enabling them to focus on their true feelings in every given moment. He is dedicated to providing patient-focused care, offering compassionate and effective treatment options that support optimal mental health outcomes.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I want you to tell me everything, so I can offer to you everything I know in regards to treatment options in helping you to feel better. I'll do my best to instill hope; even when you feel there is no light at the end of the tunnel.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

Medication-Management and Talk Therapy. Active listening. I will utilize screening tools such as the standard PHQ-9, GAD-7, MDQ and ASRS screeners to help determine diagnosis.

I work to treat behavioral symptoms in a safe manner without the use of controlled substances to limit the possibility of any harm caused by self and or patient.
