I am happy to help others heal from trauma, learn to cope with mood swings, changes in their lives, anxiety and anger, and help people find meaning and hope in life again. I have been a therapist for over 15 years and have experience with different ages and backgrounds - people make a beautiful tapestry through their similarities and their differences. I believe everyone can achieve balance in their lives if they learn how to cope with whatever is causing stress and distress. I became a therapist because I love to help people feel better; mental health disorders are on both sides of my family, and I have first-hand knowledge of mood disorders. My specialties are anger, anxiety, depression, and adjusting to change. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as the main technique - what we think determines what we feel and how we act and react to others and the world around us. When you can control or change what you think, your life can improve. I use other techniques such as Solution Focused Therapy, Supportive Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy, and I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. The first session will be to gather information about you and what has been going on to bring you into therapy. You can expect a non-judgmental and relaxed conversation to begin building a therapeutic relationship with me. Trust is something that will build at each session, so sessions will become more relaxed and focused every time we meet. If you have anxiety prior to the first session, remind yourself of why you made the appointment, and how much better you can feel through therapy!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Clients can expect to learn coping skills and how to change their thought processes. Taking notes in session is a good way to remember how to use coping skills and to jot down any questions between sessions. Sometimes a homework assignment will be given to help clients learn more about themselves or how to practice a skill.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I use different methods as needed depending on the situation. I usually use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy because it is a proven method to help people heal and make changes to how they feel, think, and act/react.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I am a very direct therapist and this helps me cut through to the source of the issue. I am an empathic listener and this helps with identifying and treating the root cause.
