Welcome. I'm glad you are here. I know it's not easy reaching out for support. My name is Janna and I'm a licensed marriage and family therapist. I'm a graduate of John F. Kennedy University. If you're struggling and unhappy with your life and relationships... there is hope. Sometimes we just need someone to talk to and listen without judgement. Sometimes we just need to be accepted for who we are. Sometimes we just need support from a caring, professional to help us figure out what is getting in the way so we can heal from past hurts, heartbreak, trauma, and disappointments. I've worked with individuals, couples, and families in a variety of mental health settings including, schools, non-profits, outpatient, and inpatient facilities. It is possible to create the life, career, and relationships you want. I'm here to help you be the best person you can be and feel the best you can feel. Here is one of my favorite quotes... What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, I will get to know you. I'll ask questions and listen compassionately to understand what you're going through. We will discuss what you'd like to improve in your life, what you've been struggling with, what has worked, and hasn't worked in your life. We will identify your goals for therapy, discuss the frequency of appointments, and I will answer any questions you may have.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Clients have told me I'm compassionate, caring, and nonjudgemental. I use the strengths of clients to empower them to see different perspectives and possibilities they may have not previously considered that may be holding them back from the life and relationships they really want. I tend to work myself out of a job and enjoy seeing client's feel better as quickly as possible!

My treatment methods

EMDR

Eye desensitization and reprocessing or EMDR is a therapeutic process that uses bilateral stimulation to heal trauma and emotionally distressing experiences. Research has shown EMDR has been effective in treating PTSD, anxiety, and many other adverse life experiences. When EMDR therapy is successful, emotional triggers are reduced, negative beliefs are released, and psychological distress is relieved.

Narrative

We all have stories we tell ourselves about who we are. With narrative therapy, I'll help you to re-write your story based on your strengths and successes. You will feel hopeful and empowered through the process of healing. I will help you be the best version of yourself and create the life you want.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Our thoughts can effect our emotions and behaviors. With Cognitive behavior therapy, we will explore how over-thinking and negative thought patterns like worrying about all the "what if's" and worse case scenarios effects how you feel and replace those negative thoughts with healthy, adaptive thought processes which can reduce anxiety and depression.

Brainspotting

Brainspotting or BSP is a therapy that helps clients to access, process, and heal negative emotions, trauma, and physical pain. The premise of BSP is where you look effects how you feel. I will help you identify "brain spots" by guiding your eyes to specific areas of vision that activate emotions and trauma allowing you to access emotions on a deeper level to heal the physical and emotional effects of trauma. BSP is a great option if you've been in therapy before and haven't experienced the results you've been looking for.
