I am a person-centered, solution focused therapist. What that means is that my relationship with clients is focused on compassion, empathy, respect, trust and being real, there is no judgement here. I make counseling open and as easy as possible, by establishing a safe space for healing and growth that offers confidentiality, and room to gain insight and awareness. Therapy work may be tough but talking to your therapist should never be difficult or awkward.
During your first session we will talk about what brings you to counseling and get some history. We will work on putting together a plan, discovering your strengths, challenges, and what improvement will look like.
I am here to help you on the path to heal and grow and work towards making your future healthier and more manageable. Everyone has the capacity of finding their inner courage and bring about change that is lasting in their lives. I work with clients to be able to find that inner courage to make changes that can help change situations.
I often use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) along with motivational interviewing in my practice. With CBT, we'll look at how your thoughts affect your emotions and experience. During treatment we will work on those thoughts to change your feelings for the better. CBT can help in improving quality of life, learn better coping skills. It can help with learning ways to make better decisions and procrastinate less, adopt healthier habits, and learn to respond to stressful situations more positively.
I use Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) to help people with a variety of mental health conditions improve their quality of life. DBT can help people build and maintain healthier relationships. I use it to help reduce anxiety and depression, increase self-esteem and self-confidence. It can also help improve social functioning. It can help people learn how to cope with difficult situations and help people learn how to regulate their emotions.
I like to use Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy which can help with a variety of conditions and symptoms. It can help with relationship issues and improve relationships. I use it for trauma as IFS therapy focuses on the root causes of trauma, rather than just treating symptoms
Grief counseling is a specific therapy that helps clients understand and process the feelings and emotions that come with grieving. It’s helps build coping strategies and increase self-awareness to help learn to accept reality after loss.
I use TF-CBT to help clients learn skills to cope with trauma, face and resolve trauma and related concerns, and help integrate their traumatic experiences and progress through life in a safe and positive manner.
