My name is Angelina Power. I am a licensed professional counselor in Pennsylvania with six years of experience working with people from various backgrounds and life circumstances. I obtained a Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. I specialize in working with adults with depression, anxiety, PTSD, chemical dependencies, grief, motivation, and self-esteem problems. Additionally, my practice includes supporting professionals around issues of compassion fatigue, burnout mitigation and recovery, and managing stress related to work and professional development. As a bi-racial woman who grew up as a military brat, I've lived in small communities on the Navajo Nation and in rural Alaska. Cultural sensitivity is something I hold in high regard. It is important in my practice of working with others to value and acknowledge their experiences. ***Please note that all appointments must be canceled with a minimum of 24 hours' notice in order to avoid a no show fee.***
Therapy is viewed as a collaborative process in my approach. I embrace where you are while we focus on building self-awareness and practicing self-compassion to help you make transformational changes in your life. My goal is to create an inclusive and safe counseling space that will help you enrich your life and maximize your ability to thrive.
I practice with a non-judgmental and solution focused lens by using evidenced based treatments like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Prolonged Exposure, Motivational Interviewing, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy.
As a Certified Prolonged Exposure Therapist, I utilized trauma informed care in my practice to establish emotional safety, build trust, recognize the signs and symptoms of trauma exposure, promote treatment that is centered around an individual’s needs, and provide culturally competent care that is sensitive to each individual’s identity.
