With a calm demeanor, listening ear, and intuitive nature, I am able to discern how to best communicate with the you while working to discern your needs and desires for therapy. Additionally, I am culturally sensitive and trauma-based in my approach. I have an eclectic (personalized and mixed) approach of proven, evidence-based techniques and skills to be your guide to match and map your journey for your needs as your partner and guide. I have a strong affinity for technology and, when suitable, will suggest evidence-based platforms (apps) to enhance your experience, satisfaction, and treatment. I have a high rate of improvement with multiple populations of adults, as I continually study and learn to improve my skills and knowledge.
Beginning therapy can be stressful and challenging. I am a compassionate and understanding professional that values your safety in an environment that brings feelings of understanding, value, and validation. It is my utmost priority is that you feel safe and heard. Our first session consists of gaining history in addition to considering your goals and strengths.
I have been told I have the gift of being present, motivating, and 100% client-focused. I am highly empathic and have walked through many hardships as well! I have advanced training in trauma-informed care in addition to ADHD as well as addictions. I am skilled in using analogies and interactive demonstrations and feel honored to help clients like you live your best life. I strongly believe in the importance of partnership with you, as we walk our paths together as a collaborative team. I use an Eclectic approach to therapy in order to create a solid therapeutic relationship with features of customization and various modalities to assist with meeting your goals based on your personality stile. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Compassion-Focused, CBT, Psychoeducation, and Somatic techniques are evidence-based approaches are primarily utilized. Values are important to determine how we drive our decisions in addition to understanding how the Autonomic Nervous System (aka, "Fight/Flight") dominates our entire mental and physical bodies. I will assist in not only educating you about the ANS but help you practice tools to take over this system in order to remain calmer in the body with increased awareness of mindfulness (present moment living). Finally, I love to incorporate nature, plants, breathing, and multimedia to assist with reducing stress and enhancing life satisfaction.
I enjoy working with individual adults who benefit from an active and participatory therapist that has a unique and eclectic mindset and focus. I am best positioned to serve adults who desire to break free from negative and harmful thoughts, feelings, and resultant behaviors such as procrastination, inability to focus or feel motivated, or lifelong traumatic situations and addictive patterns. These patterns include, "Disordered Eating", gambling, using substances, or any other habit that becomes uncontrollable. Additionally, if you are going through major life adjustments, grief or loss, anxiety, depression, or career/vocational challenges.
I use this to assist client in understanding the nature of their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors while teaching skills to allow emotions to pass, hence, allowing healing over time. CBT, Mindfulness, and somatic skills are practiced in session to instill health self care routines.
I believe strongly in a customized approach based on client's needs and desired goals. I will use multiple techniques to assist client in reaching goals, one small step at a time.
I have found that successful outcomes are reached due to unearthing the reasons why our current struggles and condition are prevalent. Once we dissect the roots, we then move on to present-moment Eclectic Therapy utilizing various evidenced-based treatments.
CBT is one of the gold standards for treatment due to the fact that our problems, stressors, and behaviors a result of how we think. Quite simply something happens (a cue or trigger) which causes an immediate thought and emotion which results in an action or behavior. CBT is an excellent treatment modality that, over time, reduces unwanted behaviors.
Building Rapport and trust is my ultimate goal first and foremost as I believe that a trusting relationship is integral before any work can be done. I focus on my clients strengths from the beginning of treatment in order to assist with building confidence and self-esteem. I have used this technique since I began practicing several years ago.
