Are you having trouble expressing your feelings, putting YOU first or navigating life’s many challenges? Are you figuring out you cant pour from an empty cup? Life is life'ing and you may be feeling stuck and your ready for change? I see you and im here to help! As a Black Millennial therapist, who is also a military spouse, I am passionate about providing relatable therapy to BIPOC , LGBTQIA+ ,Millennials and Military families.
In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.
One of my greatest strengths as a provider is my ability to build strong, trusting relationships with clients, especially those from BIPOC communities. I create a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients feel seen and heard. I also bring cultural humility, active listening, and a trauma-informed lens to every session, which helps me meet clients where they are and support meaningful healing.
I love working with millennials, BIPOC and military families because I identify with each population and I have first hand experience that I feel can help these clients.
I use Internal Family Systems (IFS) to help clients explore and heal the different parts of themselves shaped by trauma, cultural expectations, and identity. By fostering self-compassion and understanding, clients learn to unburden wounded parts and restore balance, especially when navigating complex family and societal dynamics.
I use Trauma-Focused CBT to support clients in processing traumatic experiences, especially those tied to childhood, systemic oppression, or intergenerational trauma. I combine cognitive restructuring with culturally sensitive strategies, helping clients reframe harmful beliefs while building emotional regulation and resilience in a safe, affirming space.
I use Brainspotting to help clients access and process trauma stored in the body and nervous system. By identifying specific eye positions linked to emotional distress, clients can release deep-seated pain, especially related to generational and racial trauma. I create a safe, culturally aware space where healing can unfold at the client’s pace.
I use CBT with BIPOC clients by integrating culturally relevant examples and addressing how thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are shaped by both personal experiences and systemic factors. I help clients reframe negative thinking while also validating the real-world stressors they face, such as racism, intergenerational trauma, and identity-related challenges. This approach empowers clients to develop practical coping skills within the context of their lived realities.
I use culturally sensitive therapy by tailoring interventions to align with each client’s cultural background, values, and lived experiences. I prioritize understanding their worldview and avoid assumptions, creating space for clients to explore how culture, identity, and history impact their mental health. This approach helps build trust and improves outcomes, especially for clients from marginalized communities.
