Hello, I am Ayanna Ferguson, a licensed child and family therapist born and raised in New York. I am inspired by the transformation I see in the lives of those who participate in therapy. Throughout my 15 plus years of experience working in clinical, educational, and health settings, I have developed an effective therapeutic style. I use the process of teaching, learning, guiding and supporting those I work with as they take steps towards growth and improve the quality of their overall health and well being.
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
To begin, it is important that you are in a space where you have the privacy, quiet and comfort you need for our conversation. The first session is low pressure and an opportunity for you to express yourself, share what's on your mind, and also decide if working with me is the right fit for you. Through introductions and meaningful questions, I will find out more about you and what you need/want (and what you do not need or want). I will share what I have learned about you and also share ideas and next steps based on what we have discussed.
Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.
My focus is to create a space where you feel seen, heard, and understood. In the therapy process, we will get clear on symptoms and stress, but also focus on aspects of wellness that exist in your life. We will explore and present new skills and strategies as you make progress towards your goals. The key to a more satisfying therapy experience is using each session to listen, observe, and provide insight as you make progress towards your growth. Together, we can create practical solutions as you establish more peace in your life.
