You may be reading my profile now because you are experiencing burnout, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, or the negative impact of a traumatic experience. As a result, you may feel less confident, put self-care on the back burner (or off the stove altogether), not complete tasks and more. As a licensed marriage and family therapist with years of experience in the field, I bring a compassionate and collaborative approach to helping you navigate life's challenges and support you on your path to healing. I strive to create a safe and supportive environment where you can feel comfortable sharing your thoughts and feelings, and together we can develop strategies to help you achieve your personal and relational goals. I build on evidence-based techniques to provide personalized treatment that meets your unique needs. I am dedicated to helping you gain insight, develop skills, and find greater fulfillment in your life. Let's work together to create positive change and achieve your highest potential.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our first session, you can expect an initial assessment where you will have the opportunity to share your concerns and goals for therapy. As a marriage and family therapist, I take a holistic approach, considering the individual, relational, and systemic factors that may be impacting your well-being. In our first session, I will ask you questions about your background, relationships, and current challenges. This will help me gain a comprehensive understanding of your situation and determine the most appropriate treatment approach. I will also explain my therapeutic approach and discuss any relevant ethical and confidentiality considerations. It's important for me to create a safe and non-judgmental space where you feel comfortable opening up and expressing your thoughts and emotions. Additionally, we will collaboratively develop a treatment plan, setting specific goals and outlining what you hope to achieve in therapy. This will provide structure and direction for our future sessions. Overall, our first session is an opportunity for us to establish rapport and for me to gather important information that will inform the course of your treatment. I am committed to being empathetic, compassionate, and responsive to your individual needs throughout our therapeutic journey together.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As a therapist, I believe that my biggest strength is my ability to create a safe and supportive environment for my clients. I understand that opening up about personal issues can be difficult, so I strive to make every session comfortable and non-judgmental. I believe in the power of harmony between our mental, physical, and spiritual selves and look at the whole (rather than certain parts) of each individual. My training in different treatment modalities also allows me to pull various interventions (such as coping strategies to manage anxiety and stress, communication strategies for interpersonal relationships, or creating a self-care plan) that can be of assistance to each individual.

My treatment methods

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

In my practice, I utilize Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy as a powerful tool for helping clients explore and understand the various parts of themselves, their emotions, and their internal conflicts. I have extensive experience with this treatment method and have found it to be highly effective in promoting self-awareness, addressing past traumas, and fostering inner harmony. I use IFS to guide clients through the process of identifying and connecting with their different parts, such as the wounded child, protective parts, and the compassionate self. Through this process, clients can gain insight into their internal dynamics, resolve inner conflicts, and cultivate self-compassion and acceptance. I integrate IFS techniques with other therapeutic modalities to tailor treatment plans to each client's unique needs and goals, allowing them to achieve profound transformation and growth.

EMDR

In my practice, I have extensive experience using Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy to help clients process and heal from trauma, anxiety, phobias, and other distressing experiences. I incorporate EMDR as part of a comprehensive treatment approach to address unresolved trauma and maladaptive coping mechanisms. I guide clients through the eight-phase EMDR protocol, which involves identifying and processing traumatic memories while simultaneously engaging in bilateral stimulation, such as eye movements, taps, or sounds. Through EMDR, clients can reprocess traumatic memories, reduce the emotional charge associated with them, and develop more adaptive beliefs and behaviors. I have witnessed significant improvements in clients' symptoms, including decreased anxiety, improved mood, and enhanced self-esteem, as they work through past traumas and gain a sense of empowerment and resilience. I tailor EMDR therapy to each client's unique needs and preferences, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for healing and growth.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I incorporate Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) principles and techniques to help clients develop coping skills, regulate emotions, and improve interpersonal relationships. While I may not specialize solely in DBT, I integrate aspects of this evidence-based therapy into my treatment approach, particularly when working with clients who struggle with emotion dysregulation, impulsivity, or interpersonal difficulties. I utilize DBT strategies such as mindfulness practices, distress tolerance skills, emotion regulation techniques, and interpersonal effectiveness training to empower clients in managing challenging emotions and behaviors. By incorporating DBT principles into therapy sessions, I aim to enhance clients' overall well-being and equip them with practical tools for navigating life's challenges more effectively. Additionally, I collaborate with clients to identify areas where DBT strategies can be beneficial and tailor interventions to meet their individual needs and treatment goals.

Mind-body approach

In my practice, I have substantial experience integrating a mind-body approach into therapy sessions to address clients' holistic well-being. This approach emphasizes the interconnectedness of mental, emotional, and physical health, recognizing that experiences and traumas can manifest in both psychological and physiological symptoms. I incorporate various mind-body techniques such as mindfulness, relaxation exercises, guided imagery, and somatic experiencing to help clients connect with their bodies, regulate emotions, and alleviate symptoms of stress, anxiety, and trauma. By integrating mind-body interventions, I aim to promote self-awareness, self-regulation, and resilience, empowering clients to cultivate a deeper understanding of themselves and their experiences. Additionally, I collaborate with clients to explore the mind-body connection, identify patterns of physical and emotional distress, and develop personalized strategies for fostering balance and healing. Overall, my experience with the mind-body approach underscores its effectiveness in promoting holistic well-being and facilitating clients' journey toward healing and growth.
