I aim to provide a safe space for clients, couples and families alike to seek, ask questions and learn more about who they are and what they are capable of becoming. It is my role to provide a listening ear and help clients search within to come up with their own answers to change toward a happier, more carefree life. I strive for strong rapport and full disclosure. Once the working relationship has been established the possibilities towards change become limitless. Some areas that I have worked with include, self-awareness and self-esteem strengthening; mindfulness skills for life's anxieties and stressors as well as managing our emotions and being able to apply emotional intelligence to all areas of our lives. The goal is for you to become the best version of yourself.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Clients have often reported that they feel like they are just sitting comfortably with an old friend during our sessions; someone who knows them well and is there for any of life's challenges. The sessions are warm, relaxed and welcoming. The time is often client lead and will not move beyond the topic or pace that best suits them. During the first session, clients can expect to have an opportunity to present their goals. What is it that they hope to get out of counseling? What is it that has driven them to see a therapist and where do they hope to be in the future.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I am very data driven and love to celebrate change and movement in progress wherever and whenever I can. To me, it is important that clients have a hand on the wheel. I want them to know that we are not simply meeting and chatting each week but that they are making progress and working towards those goals that brought them to me in the first place. I like to perform a lot of check ins, give homework assignments and review the relevance of therapy goals as we move along. I think of counseling as hard work, but with many rewards sprinkled about.

My treatment methods

Motivational Interviewing

The practice of motivational interviewing to me, starts with active listening. This technique combined with the practice of motivational interviewing is designed to encourage my clients to look deep within themselves to know that they are capable of so much more than they think. When we feel stuck, hopeless or even in a place where we believe nothing can get better, I believe that the right use of motivational interviewing can revive the person inside all of us and encourage positive, sustaining change.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

Once a client takes the first step towards the journey of self-help and change, fear and hesitation may soon come after. There are always going to be inner thoughts that cause us to second guess ourselves. We all experience feeling like "we can't" at times. Through acceptance and commitment, clients can rediscover who they are, what their values are and what the road ahead of them looks like. Many times, our anxiety, fears or pain can get in the way of living the way we want to be. Acceptance and commitment treatment works to restore our bodies and mind and creating congruence through mindfulness coping skills.
