Hello, I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and have been practicing for 9 years. Throughout my career, I have completed trainings in several evidence based practices such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Gottman and Dialectical Behavior therapy. I work with individuals who are experiencing life transitions, stressors, depression, anxiety, and any event or circumstance that may have caused them to to be off their baseline.
In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, review of practice policies. Then we dive into the specific challenges you are facing. This will help me understand what your expectations are and to come up with a plan for us to work through in follow up sessions.
My greatest strength is my ability to truly understand what is causing the client to feel stuck.
I love working with individuals and couples who may be experiencing challenges in their relationships and help them problem solve by talking through the options that are available. I also work with clients who may be navigating the nuances in an interracial or interfaith relationship.
When we are constantly worried and upset, we can quickly get caught in thought loops that cause us expect the worst possible outcome and reinforce our negative feelings. Through CBT, I teach clients to differentiate between thoughts and feelings to develop insight and consider all possible options in front of them.
I follow the Gottman principles by initially teaching clients the 4 horsemen (maladaptive communication patterns) and replacing them with more constructive communication patterns. I also help clients build connections through love maps to increase their friendship and remind them of what initially attracted them to each other. Additionally, I help clients resolve perpetuating and ongoing conflicts and help disrupt those negative communication patterns.
