Hello there! Kudos to you for taking this step. I’m a therapist that is devoted to her craft and that knows what it’s like to be broken. Therefore, I am going to be devoted to your healing and as knowledgeable as I can be in doing so. I’m also going to be able to come from a perspective of being able to identify with your hurting and to have unique perspectives on options for promoting your healing process.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In your first session with me, you can expect to be able to tell your story. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions. I will also take time to clarify the therapy process and the typical expectations and guidelines accordingly. You will also get a chance to voice your expectations for the therapy process.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I think that my greatest strength as a therapist is that you can count on me to hear you. I may not always verbalize that fully (due to time constraints), but I will likely hear and understand beyond what you expect me to (per feedback from previous clients). This will show up in my notes and in my planning for future sessions. Another strength of mine is that I expect healing. This allows me to go home and not be stressed because I have strong confidence that my clients are going to experience some form of growth and healing in my sessions. If at any point, I have a client that does not seem to be growing, I will talk with them about it and let them know that my skills do not seem to meet their needs, which can happen sometimes and that is okay; that gives both of us an opportunity to express our advocacy skills.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I am best able to serve clients that are interested in healing. As much as I want to meet this type of need sometimes, I am not strong in being able to just sit and talk about problems. I can best serve clients that are willing to take even the smallest steps in their healing process. Such small steps can be profound in supporting the healing process.

My treatment methods

EMDR

Formally trained by Dr. Morrissey through EMDRIA.org. I have been practicing this treatment method for over a year now. I stay up to date on the latest updates with EMDR on a weekly basis.

Christian Counseling

I utilize my trainings from Boyce College, Regent University, and Abilene Christian University to effectively meet the needs of people in need of bringing in a Christian perspective to the healing process.

Cognitive Behavior Therapy for Suicide Prevention (CBT-SP)

I have spent years studying Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and putting it into practice for equipping people to customize their treatment plan to their healing process. Our thoughts, behaviors, and emotions can interact and influence one another and it is helpful to learn how to regain control of those interactions so that one can experience healing.

Mind-body approach

My practice and routine studies of EMDR therapy have opened up avenues for me to study and practice ways supporting clients’ ability to understand and manage symptoms through and understanding of the brain-body connections. The body truly does keep the score.

Eclectic

No two people are the same. Each unique individual has unique needs. And, on top of that, each individual faces different circumstances in between sessions. Life can be messy. This is an area where my gifted/talented, flexibility, and person-centered skills come into play.
