About me

Hello! I'm Jane. I began working as a psychotherapist 20 years ago and continue to find it an amazing honor and privilege. I would love to support you in finding relief to suffering, and increasing joy. It may be that through a process of self-inquiry which builds awareness, compassion, connection to your self and others, and self-empowerment, you can create the changes you want to see in your life.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

If you haven't been to therapy before, welcome! This is time and space that is dedicated for you and your wellness. In the first session, we will complete any unfinished intake questions and administrative tasks if needed. I will ask you any questions that came up when I reviewed your intake forms. We will discuss in further detail what led you to seek therapy at this time, and we'll get clear about what changes you'd like to see. It's okay if that isn't clear to you ahead of time, we can work on clarifying it together in session. During session, I will hold space for whatever comes up in the moment and offer guidance that will help move you towards the goals of treatment.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I help clients see where they have options that they hadn't realized before. Clients who work with me tend to increase self-awareness and insight; gain clarity on what they have control over; and discover how to create the changes they seek. I help clients learn how to improve their mood, reduce anxiety, react to situations in new ways, adapt during transitions, discover new perspectives, and improve their relationships. Clients who work with me can expect to gain practical tools to support their mental wellness in daily life, and also do deep work together to address the heart of the matter.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

Often individuals are attempting to think their way out of a problem, and it's not working. Or the coping tools that worked for them before are not having the effect they want. I help clients get to what is underneath and meet it with compassion and understanding, and discover a new approach. I work with adult individuals and couples.

My treatment methods

Trauma Informed Care

Over the past 12 years of working with Active Duty Military Service Members and Veterans, trauma informed care has been part of any effective treatment. The same is true in the past several years I've worked with therapists and other medical professionals. Thoughts, feelings, and behaviors related to trauma can have a far reaching impact and show up in ways you may not expect it to be related, even years after having no symptoms. Meeting it with compassion and understanding, using practical tools to manage current symptoms, and when it is appropriate, diving in deeper to address the root, can lead to profound relief.

Compassion Focused

Compassion is at the heart of how I work with clients. When shame is met with compassion, shame begins to melt away.

EMDR

EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) can be a powerful approach for healing. I am trained in EMDR and use it in conjunction with other approaches.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Mindfulness is an integral part of treatment. After years of practicing mindfulness throughout my day, I often coach clients on how to incorporate it into their daily life as part of activities they already do. It supports the experience of living in the present moment and not missing out on life by focusing on the past or the future. It helps with treatment of anxiety, grief, depression, trauma, stress, and relationship issues.

Couples Counseling

Sometimes relationships bring the most joy to life, and sometimes are the most stressful part of life. I help clients discover how to increase connection, authenticity, and peace in their relationship.

I really appreciate Jane‘s warm and insightful approach to working together. I feel as though she really gets me and that is priceless. I have seen a number of different therapists over the last 25 years and she is the best I’ve known.
