Hi, my name is Tandy Jackson. I hold an LPC-MHSP license in the state of Tennessee and have 5 years of experience working with clients for various issues including anxiety, depression, self-esteem, life transitions, coping strategies, relational issues, emotional issues, and trauma. I am currently working with teenagers and adults in the individual therapy setting. My practice involves a combination of humor, compassion, challenge, and encouragement as I walk with clients on their journey to learn more about themselves and take the risk of trying new things--first in the therapeutic relationship then extending into their lives outside of session.
In your first session, we will explore what brought you to therapy and discuss what treatment might be best for you based on your experiences, needs, and goals. I often use trauma-informed and relational interventions to help individuals feel regulated, process trauma, and build understanding around their coping responses, to help you feel better and to support personal development and growth.
I have experience working with children, teenagers, and adults experiencing issues with anxiety, trauma, depression, emotional regulation, stress, relational issues, and life changes. I am licensed in TN and have training in EMDR, TF-CBT, and IFS (parts work) for trauma-specific treatment. As a therapist, I often use a combination of humor, gentleness, challenge, compassion, and empowerment with my clients.
Welcome to my page. If you are here, you might have questions about therapy, wonder if this is the right step for you, or feel desperate for change. Regardless of where you are, I would like to invite you to reach out and connect. I am happy to talk with you about your concerns, hopes, fears, and/or doubts. I believe that all of us can benefit from additional support in different times of our lives, and we can discuss what that might look like for you. Whether you are wanting to develop skills to cope with life’s challenges, know yourself more fully, or seek healing from trauma, I am honored to support you on your journey. I am passionate about working with people who are navigating concerns such as anxiety, depression, family changes, life adjustments, relational issues, grief/loss, stress, emotional regulation, and trauma from a relational, trauma-informed lens using evidence-based interventions. I tailor my approach to meet each client's unique needs, hopes, and story. I often work with clients who are experiencing anxiety, stress, relationship issues, life changes, or have experienced trauma. Treatment begins by exploring the factors underlying your concern and understanding your story. My aim is to support and guide you on your path of healing to help you connect authentically with yourself and others. As a therapist, I am dedicated to creating a safe, compassionate, and empowering space for clients to heal and grow. Whether you are wanting to develop your skills to cope with life’s many challenges, know yourself more fully, or seek healing from trauma, I am honored to meet you here and collaborate with you on your journey.
Oftentimes when people are prompted to try therapy, it is because of some issue in relationships-- either with others or perhaps with yourself. Our relationships are integral to our mental health, which is why my approach includes relational-based interventions. This means two things: 1- part of our time in therapy will be spent exploring the relational dynamics in your life and 2- part of the work we will do in therapy will be in the relationship between the therapist and the client. The relationship with the therapist and the client offers up a unique and safe space for you to take risks, try new things, and gain valuable insights about yourself, which then translates into your relationships outside of therapy.
People who come to therapy often want to talk about how they connect with, or form attachments, with others and with themselves. I have training in and experience working with different attachment-based approaches to help clients gain insight into their own attachment/connection styles and learn new skills to help build healthy attachments/connections in their life.
The mental and emotional health of a person comes down to several factors that make you who you are. This includes several factors, but it can be helpful to find some concrete places to start such as your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors/actions. CBT is a model of therapy that I use in my practice to help people learn and practice skills to help with feelings of anxiety/depression, negative thinking, and changing their behaviors. Some clients enjoy this model and I often use skills outlined in this model to help clients make small changes that can have a big impact. I typically use CBT skills in conjunction with relational therapy or other models.
For people coming to counseling who have experienced trauma or are curious if some difficult life experiences may be impacting their ability to connect with others or function, EMDR is a treatment model that can be very helpful. My EMDR training includes interventions to help people learn about themselves, gentle exploration of your current coping styles, and a few grounding techniques using bilateral stimulation to help an individual process trauma from their past that is impacting their present.
IFS is a treatment model that can be helpful for people experiencing difficulties with anxiety, depression, trauma, or other issues. I often use this type of therapy with clients when we are exploring the different parts/sides of you that make up yourself and to help clients get in touch with their inner self. This can be helpful for clients who are struggling with intense emotions, thoughts, or behaviors in helping them gain a sense of control over their life and learn how to manage these feelings, thoughts, or behaviors when stressors come up in their life.
