Hi there! Firstly, I want to validate the courage it takes to consider therapy—taking that first step to seek help is a sign of strength. While therapy doesn’t offer quick fixes, I’ve had the privilege of helping many clients better understand themselves, allowing them to navigate life’s challenges in more authentic and meaningful ways. I am excited to begin our therapeutic journey together. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Texas and a Board-Certified Art Therapist. Throughout my career, I’ve worked with individuals and families of all ages and of various backgrounds in schools, treatment centers, and community mental health settings. I take a holistic, person-centered approach to therapy, with a focus on finding solutions that honor each person’s unique background and needs. I also draw from various therapeutic modalities, including Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and, of course, Art Therapy. I’m especially passionate about supporting Teens and young adults and in working with new and expecting mothers. I specialize in using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Art Therapy to help clients heal and thrive.
In our first session, we’ll take some time to get to know each other and work to build a strong sense of safety and trust, which is so important for our work together. We’ll also chat about the challenges you’re facing and start to set some meaningful goals that will help guide our sessions moving forward.
One of my greatest strengths as a therapist is my empathy and compassion. I chose this work with intention because I genuinely care about seeing my clients grow and thrive.
My ideal clients are those that are ready to collaborate in tackling deep rooted issues, processing past trauma, understanding their relationship patterns and challenges, and in building a more thorough and authentic understanding of themselves.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a powerful tool for understanding how our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are all connected. In our sessions, we’ll explore these connections together to uncover any unhealthy or unhelpful patterns, and work on changing them in ways that can create real, positive impact in your life. I have several years of experience using CBT with a wide range of people and issues, and I’m also specially trained in using CBT to help those dealing with PTSD and trauma.
Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a specific type of therapy for children and adolescents that unites two approaches: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Narrative Therapy. This therapeutic modality teaches relaxation skills and cognitive coping skills so clients can better manage their trauma symptoms. Client's are also asked to create a trauma narrative. I have used this modality with various children and adolescents in their trauma healing journeys.
Attachment-Based Therapy is an approach that helps people understand their attachment styles and how these patterns affect their relationships. In our sessions, I may ask you to reflect on your early attachment experiences and how they might influence how you show up in relationships today—whether that's through anxious attachment, avoidant attachment, or secure attachment. By gaining this insight into your attachment history, you’ll be better equipped to understand yourself and your interactions with others.
Person-centered therapy is all about putting you, the client, in the driver's seat. It’s based on the belief that you are the expert in your own life. This approach emphasizes unconditional positive regard, empathy, and a non-judgmental attitude, creating a safe space for you to explore and grow. Person-centered therapy is my primary therapeutic approach, and I use it in every session to support you in your journey.
Art Therapy is a creative approach that uses art-making as part of the therapeutic process. As a Board-Certified Art Therapist, I often incorporate art into our sessions to help you express yourself and explore your feelings. The art activities we use are tailored to your specific needs and preferences, and can include things like painting, drawing, clay work, collage, or working with found objects. It’s a way to tap into your creativity and gain insight into your thoughts and emotions.
