I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in FL. I am also a National Certified Counselor (NCC). I received my Masters in Counseling with dual specializations in Mental Health and Marriage & Family from Barry University. I have worked in public service for more than thirty (30) years and have dedicated the last 10 years to increasing the awareness of mental health issues and its impact on daily functioning.
It is my belief that the hardest part of your therapeutic experience should be the decision to start. Once you have reached that, everything is streamlined and tailored to meeting your desired goal(s). The intake process is reflective of your typical healthcare setting whereas you are presented with questions to assist your healthcare provider with identifying your needs and goals of therapy. The initial session is also the facilitation of the therapeutic alliance. In addition to reviewing the intake questionnaire and identifying goals, it is also an opportunity to provide an explanation of the therapeutic process, to include any fees associated with care and communication.
Over the past ten (10) years, I have acquired the ability to work with diverse populations. Some of my strengths as a clinician include my ability to assist clients with reaching their therapeutic goals using compassion, empathy, and support. Another strength is the ability to provide a safe environment that is free from judgement.
Feeling stuck in life or off track? Having a hard time sorting things out? Struggling with decision making? Experiencing periods of low motivation or lack of interest in activities once found enjoyable? Finding yourself repeating unhealthy patterns in your relationships? Blaming yourself for situations that are outside the span of your control? If you answered yes to any of these questions and are ready to do something about it, then I am here to work with you. My ideal client is you-the one, who, not only feels overwhelmed, frustrated, and stuck in life, but is also ready to do something about it. You are open and receptive to exploring new ideas and perspectives.
I am certified in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). The techniques and strategies of CBT are integrated into my practice to increase client's insight and awareness into the interconnectedness of their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is through that connectedness where meaningful changed is created.
I have worked with the LGBTQ+ population for 9 years and have been a certified transgender care specialist since 2017. Gender-affirming therapy is utilized for those individuals seeking validation and affirmation of their lived experienced. It is effective with those who struggle with self-acceptance. It is also effective for those seeking gender congruent-affirming therapy.
I utilize this theoretical frame into my practice with those clients who may present as "stuck" in their lived experience.
