Howdy! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and work with folks in New York and California. I help young adults explore their identities, relationships, and values to build mental wellness and a meaningful life. My background is in psychodynamic therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and attachment-based modalities. This means that I will help you learn useful, evidence-based tools to cope with everyday stressors while diving deep to understand the origins of what is bringing you to therapy.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, I aim to create a safe, connected space for us to explore the issues bringing you to therapy. We will work together to figure out what you envision gaining from therapy, focusing both on immediate concerns, as well as the systems and experiences that have shaped your life. I consider you to be the expert of your own life, and it's important you feel we are a good fit! We will discuss if my approach aligns with what you are hoping to achieve from your therapy experience. As we begin working together, we will use evidence-based skills to cope with the here and now, while diving deep to understand the origins of your concerns. Therapy should be both hard work AND fun along the way!

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I am a therapist who goes to therapy, and I know what it's like to be in the client's chair. I value humility, connection, and levity, and I honor my clients' inherent knowledge and inherent capacity to heal. All of this lends itself to the strong relationships I form with my clients.

My treatment methods

Attachment-based

My work is informed by attachment theory-I believe that our experience of the world, ourselves, and of others is shaped by our early attachment experiences and by the quality of our relationships throughout our lives. We are social creatures-we are biologically wired for connection and relationship!

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

As a trained DBT therapist, I help my clients use evidence-based distress tolerance, emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, and mindfulness skills in their daily lives as a way to combat their problems and increase their wellbeing.

Psychodynamic

I have formal training in psychodynamic therapy, which means our exploration of your problems will dive deep, and look at the past as a way to understand the present. I believe that gaining insight and the capacity to observe ourselves goes a long way to reduce suffering and empower us to build a life worth living!

Trauma Informed Care

Being trauma-informed means I recognize the various impacts of trauma and ask "what happened to you" rather than "what's wrong with you." As a social worker, I have a critical understanding of systemic oppression and systemic trauma, my privilege within certain systems, and the power dynamics at play in the therapy room.
