Current times can be extremely hard to make sense of and to successfully adjust; which can greatly affect our wellbeing. Let’s work together to discover the skills you need to navigate all that life can throw at you. I believe myself to be a different in some ways to what you may have experienced with a therapist before. I’m spiritual and LGBTQIA+ allied. I’m humorous, but very serious about the work I do. I’m all about enhancing the life we live on this planet and believe the answers we seek are already within us. You can do this. Let me help. In 2010, I graduated from Texas A & M University-Commerce with a Masters in Social Work. I have worked with those experiencing a decline in their health, those experiencing a mental health and/or substance abuse issues, those involved with Family Protective Services, those experiencing homelessness, those involved in the legal system and youth who aimed to re-establish supportive connections. I’ve put in a lot of time, talking to and aiming to understand more about all kinds of people and the situations they’ve faced, but my goal is always to take the journey with my clients.
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
In our first session, we do introductions and explore the areas of your life where you want to see change. I think of these as your destination; and then we develop a map for getting there.
What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?
I focus on adult women; using acceptance and commitment, cognitive, and mindfulness techniques to help you become more aware. This is done with individual, couples, and group sessions. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a set of processes and techniques that I’m learning and will implement in sessions. Being aware of your thought-processes, without judgement, and how these affect your feelings and actions is critical in making the changes you desire.
Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.
I most enjoy my work with women and those they are in relationships with. I approach this work with an open heart and mind. I allow my clients to teach me about them (I'm not the expert of your life!); we use that information to work together on a plan to get you to where you want to be.
