Hi, my name is Vanda Kim. I am a licensed clinical social worker based in California. I received my Master's degree from California State University of Sacramento. I have been working as a mental health counselor for 16 years. My experience includes working in a clinical setting, special educational school, and private practice. I enjoy meeting with people of diverse cultures and backgrounds.
Please come with an open mind and let go of any preconceived notion of what therapy should be. In the first session, you and I will learn to see if we can connect as we get to know each other. You can ask questions about me or therapy. I will ask questions to understand the problem that brought you to counseling and we will work collaboratively to create a plan to best help you.
Being a therapist has been a process of undoing and self-discovery. Through life experiences, I have come to realize that it possible to live life with strength and courage. The power to heal is within me and that I try to share with my clients.
I offer and encourage mindfulness, and coping strategies to be utilized as self-care practices. My approach is strength-based and cognitive-behavioral therapy. I believe that self-reflection is a necessary process for understanding the self. I help adult clients -- whatever their background or self-identity – to deal with their stumbling blocks, which might include stress, anxiety, depression, fear, or anger.
