I'm Makenna Francis, a licensed psychiatric nurse practitioner dedicated to helping individuals optimize their mental health and cognitive performance. I believe the human brain already possesses an incredible capacity for healing, growth, and forming new neural connections that support lasting change. My approach combines thoughtful medication management with practical strategies that strengthen the mind–body system. Whenever possible, my goal is to help patients minimize or discontinue medications through holistic, evidence-based approaches that support long-term stability, focus, and well-being. I work collaboratively with patients to understand their nervous system, develop sustainable routines, and build the internal resources needed for lasting mental clarity and resilience.
As with most initial psychiatry appointments, we will spend time discussing the problematic symptoms that prompted the visit as well as a medical, psychiatric, and medication history. We will establish a clear treatment path including goals and tools. The first visit is one hour and follow-up visits are 20-30 mins. I look to avoid long-term medication options whenever possible, but I also understand and respect psychiatric medications when properly prescribed, can be very helpful and sometimes necessary for someone's life.
I used to struggle significantly with ADHD symptoms myself, however after researching and implementing multiple techniques, I have improved my symptoms to the point where I no longer meet the qualification for a diagnosis. I feel that attention is our highest form of currency and learning techniques for improved concentration benefits all aspects of life. Understanding the unique challenges of individuals with attention deficit and my ability to navigate to clearer waters is my greatest strength as a provider.
