Have you experienced a traumatic event or abuse in the past and are now noticing it impacting your everyday functioning? Are you an adult survivor of childhood sexual abuse and ready to begin healing from your past? Maybe you are ready to take your power back and have more control in your life. If so, I may be the right counselor for you. I specialize in helping survivors of abuse, especially sexual abuse or sexual assault, take back power over their lives. Together we can find solutions and develop tools that will help you as you heal. Whether your abuse/assault happened recently or years ago, I am here to help.
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
The first part of my approach involves building trust in the therapeutic relationship while providing education and resources about what you are going through and how you can cope with it. Once we have built trust and you are ready, then we will work toward processing your experiences. I believe the real work happens between sessions, so we will review your homework at the beginning of each session. Your ownership of this process is important to me, so you will always have input in decisions about homework and focus.
What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?
I tailor my approach to each client's needs and enjoy empowering my clients. Some methods I utilize are trauma-focused cognitive-behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, expressive therapies, internal family systems, emotionally focused individual therapy, and EMDR. I have earned the TeleMental Health Training Certificate (THTC) through the completion of the comprehensive THTC program and Trauma-Focused CBT Certificate from the National Therapist Certification Program.
Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.
Some of my strengths include helping clients understand trauma and trauma responses, helping clients rediscover strengths, noticing patterns or inconsistencies in client beliefs and behaviors, and helping clients explore coping in healthier ways.
