Thank you for your interest in my counseling practice! I provide individual counseling for clients seeking support in managing anxiety, life transitions, grief and trauma symptoms. I received my MSW in Clinical Practice from the University of Pennsylvania and have been practicing for 20 years. I believe that people are doing the best they can with the resources that they have, so my goal as a therapist is to help you develop self-awareness and coping skills so you can feel more resilient and secure in yourself.
In our first session, we'll talk about what inspired you to reach out for counseling support and what your goals all. You won't be asked to tell your whole life story in one session! I always strive to listen more than I speak and ask questions more than give advice.
I will always be honest, direct and supportive of you in our work together. My sessions are a comfortable place to talk, vent, cry and laugh.
I love working teens, adults and elders seeking to learn more about themselves and gain tools for improving their mental health. I have extensive experience in trauma and recovery, grief and healing, and family systems. I especially enjoy working with clients who are entering therapy for the first time! I believe a good therapist is one that works with you to create a space for honest, brave, and compassionate self-reflection.
I help clients understand and heal their own attachment patterns by looking at the childhood experiences that created those patterns and then learning to build more secure, healthy relationships.
I help clients develop an awareness of the relationship between their thoughts, feelings and behaviors so you can change the way you think about yourself and the world. These new thought patterns can help you feel more confident, safer and healthier.
Grief is not a mental illness, it is the price we pay for loving and being loved. I can help you navigate the grieving process, whether you a mourning a loved one who has passed away, the loss of a relationship, or the loss of something more intangible like a sense of safety or a vision of the future.
Trauma informed care doesn't just mean talking about a scary experience. It means getting support as you process how traumatic experiences have affected the way you feel about yourself, the way you act in relationships, the way you think about the future. I will help you navigate the world of Post Traumatic Growth- the insights and strengths you develop as a result of having survived.
