Few, if any, of us grow up in an environment that perfectly fits our needs. As we grow, we adapt to our surroundings in ways that may run counter to our vitality, health, and happiness. By exploring and understanding the underlying emotional and psychological patterns that shape our lives, we are able to develop choice in whether to engage in patterns and habits that no longer serve us. As a psychotherapist, I provide a curious, and compassionate presence, lending my heart and mind to this process of self-exploration and self-understanding.
My approach is warm, curious, direct, and open. I provide short-term psychotherapy to those hoping to manage painful symptoms, as well as longer term support to those who hope to work through their underlying trauma, depression, grief, and anxiety. I see adolescents, parents, adults, and couples.
While trained primarily is psychoanalytic psychotherapy, I also utilize CBT and mindfulness interventions to reduce painful symptoms and support functioning at home, work, and community.
While I treat a wide range of clinical issues, I specialize in working with the following: college students and young professionals looking to find their place in the world of work and relationship; first generation immigrants to the United States, particularly people of color (BIPOC) and South Asian Americans; adults who have (or had) a parent or a partner with severe mental illness, such as a personality disorder (e.g. Borderline Personality Disorder, Narcissistic Personality Disorder); and adults looking to integrate psychological growth with their spiritual exploration.
