45 years of experience
Virtual

I'm a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Illinois. I have over 45 years of experience and accept adults, older adults and couples for psychotherapy. Clients can expect to encounter a compassionate and confidential setting and to improve their quality of life and relationships. We will complete an initial evaluation to identify problem areas and an initial treatment plan to address the identified issues. You will be encouraged to discuss what is most on your mind during the visit.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first visit together, I will seek to get to know you and ask question concerning your past and present issues so we can develop a treatment plan to resolve the identified problems. It's up to you what you wish to share or not share at this time. Occasionally it may take more than one visit to complete this process depending on how much is going on in your life at the current time.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have over 45 years of experience in the counseling field and have worked in many settings with many different age groups and with a wide variety of issues. I believe my experience helps me help you faster.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Thoughts often proceed feelings and behavior so changing our unhelpful beliefs and thoughts can often resolve issues. We can examine problem events or situations to recognize any unrealistic or negative thinking for evaluation. We can gain a better understanding of the behavior and motivation of other people and use problem solving skills to cope with difficult situations. This can result in greater self-confidence. We can learn how to face our fears and how to calm our mind and body. Homework may include keeping track of thoughts and feelings.

Supportive

Supportive psychotherapy focuses on providing emotional support, encouragement and validation during difficult circumstances or challenges.

Couples Counseling

Couples counseling involves identifying area of conflict and styles of communication that have created unresolved issues with the goal of helping the couple learn the process of love building habits. We also identify issues such as infidelity, unemployment, addiction, mental health issues and more that may be contributing to the relationship problems.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Solution focused treatment is utilized to resolve an issue that is best addressed in the here and now without exploring the past. If something is not working, we explore what else can be tried. The focus is on solutions rather than problems.

Eclectic

We may use multiple techniques and treatments to help resolve your issues.
