Hello! My name is Mariana Lopez-Martinez, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Michigan. I have experience working with adults who may be struggling with issues like anxiety, lack of motivation, depression, or trauma. My goal is to provide you with a safe and non-judgemental environment to help you find a path towards healing and growth.
Clients can expect to go over paperworky stuff for the first session, like consents, confidentiality and policies. Then, we'll talk about what brings you in for therapy so that we can come up with small goals. You can expect me to give you my full attention- I want to understand you and your situation so we can come up with strategies to get you where you want to be!
My approach is to provide therapy services unique to each client's specific needs. I want clients to know that they are being heard and are not alone in their struggles. Client's are their own best resource- I am here to walk alongside and provide the support and tools needed to overcome life's challenges.
I work well with adults who are experiencing emotional distress, anxiety, depression and other psychological difficulties and who are motivated to overcome their challenges and obstacles. It's important to come into sessions with an open mind and willingness to try new things. Even if you're struggling with lack of motivation to make certain changes, seeking therapy is the first step. This is a comfortable space for you to share your thoughts, emotions and obstacles.
Change and improvement is always possible. I use this treatment approach for clients who are trying to reach a goal or overcome a particular problem. We'll focus on the present and hopes for the future. We'll then identify your strengths and take an active approach to identify goals and small consistent steps that can bring positive change.
I have been using Motivational Interviewing for the past 6 years. It's helped many clients who struggle with motivation to make changes such as quitting smoking, substance use, weight loss and other behaviors which can have a negative effect on health. Change is not easy and it's not linear-My goal is to provide an understanding, supportive and empathic environment to guide you through the ups and downs.
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you understand how your thoughts, emotions and behaviors are influenced by each other. I empower you to identify and challenge negative thought patterns, replacing them with healthier beliefs and behaviors.
Psychodynamic theory is used in treatment to find habits of the mind that influence thoughts, emotions and behaviors so that you can achieve personal growth and emotional healing.
Psychoeducation is used in our therapy sessions to provide you with evidence-based education about your mental health, treatment options, and coping strategies. In sessions, I empower you to better understand experiences and develop practical skills to manage symptoms and improve your overall well-being.
