Hi, welcome to my profile! I am Johanna, I have a Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Alliant University and have been working in the mental health field for 15 years. My areas of specialty include anxiety, depression, self esteem, family and peer conflict, DV and parenting issues. I have worked in a variety of settings including clinics, hospitals and schools.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I enjoy getting to know my clients and my goal is for them to feel comfortable and safe. During our first meeting we will do brief introductions, and I will answer any questions you may have. We will begin talking about your motives for therapy and explore any potential goals for your treatment.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having worked in this field for 15 years has given me the experience to effectively help my patients through their difficulties. However, my biggest strengths go beyond the clinical knowledge. I embrace diversity, and uniqueness. I welcome everyone and I provide a space where you will feel respected, heard and validated.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I specialize in working with adolescents, young adults and adults going through different situations and/or difficulties. You do not need to have it all figured out, you might be feeling stuck or lost and that is completely okay. I am here to serve as your guide and be the calming center while you explore your path towards improving and feeling better.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have been implementing CBT throughout my career and find it an extremely helpful and effective intervention that helps us to identify our thoughts and behaviors and challenge us to change them in order to experience improvement in our overall feelings. CBT is a short term intervention that can really change our perception.
