Life is not easy, and problems are never simple. In my view, therapy is offering guidance and support to ordinary people dealing with extraordinary circumstances. Together, we will work to make the changes that are most important to you. I use a collaborative approach, working to fully understand the issues that you are facing. My goal is to create a safe space leaving you with no doubt that you are heard and valued. I provide the necessary support allowing you to face the overwhelming, and often daunting, life circumstances that you may not have been able to address on your own. Trust is a key factor in the therapeutic relationship. I believe that helping individuals learn to trust in their ability to change is paramount.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

You can expect to always be treated with dignity, respect, and warmth. You will have therapeutic interactions that are supportive and direct. You are likely to gain personal insight while also learning new strategies to cope with difficult emotions and challenging thoughts that interfere with enacting necessary change.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

My clinical philosophy is rooted in the tenets of Carl Rogers’s person-centered therapy, William Glasser’s Reality Therapy/Choice Therapy, and Miller and Rollnick’s Motivational Interviewing. I believe in meeting people where they are, operating from a humanistic and strengths-based perspective, and motivating people to move towards their identified goals in order to achieve self-actualization. I am a practitioner of existential counseling and through my practice, strive to help individuals find purpose and meaning in their life and address the predictable challenges of the human condition.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

It is essential to have an understanding of the science of counseling and like other counselors, I utilize my theoretical perspectives and extensive training and experience to foster personal growth. However, it is the art of counseling where I feel I excel. This is the skill needed to “be in the moment” with an individual during a session. I am able to be fully present, engage in active listening, and provide accurate empathy all of which make up the core conditions necessary to enact deep, personal change.
