I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in VA with 14+ years of experience in the field of mental health serving all over the state. I earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from Old Dominion University and a Master of Education Degree in Family Therapy from The College of William and Mary. Additionally, I am a Registered Clinical Supervisor for LPC Residents. My clients have described me as relatable and knowledgeable during our work together. I have experience working with children, teens, young adults, older adults, and families to support them through crises, life changes, behavioral challenges, emotional issues, and a variety of other stressors. I am most passionate about empowering those who don't feel seen or like they have a voice.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our first session, my goal is to ensure you feel comfortable and heard. Additionally, I want you to leave session understanding how therapy (in general) works and what our plan will be. We will review a few documents, answer any questions, and just chat. Therapy will happen at a natural pace.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I'm genuinely invested in your progress. I am compassionate with my approaches as we get to the root of problems and create a better way of life.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use CBT to help people improve their mood by challenging negative thinking and changing their behavior. CBT is helpful with anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, sleep issues, and other various issues.

Narrative

I use Narrative therapy to assist people with owning the power of creating and re-creating their own stories of their lives. This approach is proven to be helpful with trauma, grief, attachment, and mood disorders.

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

Everyone is unique and should be treated as so. Culturally Sensitive Therapy help people feel comfortable and understood by considering cultural background, values, and beliefs to create mutual respect and trust.

Interpersonal

Utilizing Interpersonal Therapy helps individuals focus on improving communication and interpersonal effectiveness skills. It can help people identify and address problems in their relationships with family, partners, and friends.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I incorporate Mindfulness into therapy to hep others learn to cultivate present-moment awareness. Mindfulness-based treatments have been shown to reduce anxiety, stress, and depression.
