In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During our first session we will lay the ground work for treatment by exploring your presenting problems and treatment goals. The first few sessions we will prioritize building rapport and exploring your familial, social, and psychological history.

My goal is to support you along your healing journey by meeting you where you are. I believe therapy is collaborative work between the client and therapist. I also prioritize the decolonization of therapy to provide affirming and culturally appropriate treatment to meet clients’ individual needs.

I specialize in somatic therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to address depression, anxiety, trauma, and the impact of childhood adversity. I am passionate about working with those who struggle as adults due to negative childhood experiences, individuals with ADHD, and parents or soon to be parents.

My treatment methods

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I have over 60 hours of training in DBT and utilize it to help clients learn to manage difficult emotions, regulate your nervous system, improve communication, set healthy boundaries, and use mindfulness in daily life.

Somatic

I utilize somatic therapy along side other modalities to treat trauma. Somatic work helps improve the mind body connection and aids the body in processing trauma.

Polyvagal Therapy

I provide education on how to activate the vagus nerve to calm your nervous system and step out of fight or flight.

Trauma-Focused CBT

We will work together to address the challenges affecting your daily life, build insight for new perspectives, and will challenge negative thoughts and behaviors that may be interfering with your growth. I use therapy approaches that help you learn to manage difficult emotions, regulate your nervous system, build self-worth, and heal insecure attachments.

The LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC communities highlight, and decolonization through therapy really stood out to me on Shari's profile. This therapeutic relationship has been highly impactful for me due to empowering me to continue to seek education and implement my tools to be an effective communicator and advocate for myself and others. Shari assists in keeping me grounded through authentic communication and challenges my perspectives with an open-minded approach. Very grateful to be working with Shari!
