As a therapist, I'm interested in helping you get curious about all parts of yourself, challenge rigid thinking, and hold more space for nuance. I especially enjoy working with clients as they work to: create healthy, reciprocal relationships, overcome perfectionism and people-pleasing patterns, and navigate life and career transitions. I am here to do my best to understand you and to help you clarify what your growth and healing will look like.
During our first session together, I'll ask some questions about your background and lived experiences and go over basic policies/practices. If you've been in therapy before, I might ask you to share what has and hasn't been helpful for you, and I'll answer questions you might have of me. Finally, we'll start discussing your goals and what you're hoping to learn about yourself. In follow up sessions, we'll dive in to what is challenging you in your life, identify patterns and areas where you're feeling stuck, and begin to create a plan of how to start making small steps towards change.
Over the course of my career, I have developed skills in creating a warm and respectful relationship with clients, where they feel able to be themselves. I use humor and authenticity while gently challenging you to expand perspective, try new things, and develop self-compassion.
I love working with adults who are exploring their identities and developing their sense of self, which can look like learning how to set boundaries, showing up authentically, and not people-pleasing. My clients are usually folks who are eager to learn more about themselves, but maybe haven't had a secure or consistent space to do that learning yet. Throughout my 10+ year career, I have worked predominantly with LGBTQ+ and gender diverse clients; survivors of intimate partner violence/trauma; college students, and creatives.
I use an interactive, relational style to help you clarify the root of your struggles, identify strengths, and create change. My practice is primarily insight-oriented therapy. We'll likely laugh together while working to achieve your therapy goals.
