I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida, here to provide support and guidance on your journey towards healing. I strive to create a warm and open-minded space where you can feel safe to explore and process your thoughts and feelings. It's important for me to meet you where you are and work together to address any challenges you may be facing. I believe in the strength and resilience that exists within each individual, and my role is to help you discover those inner resources to heal from the wounds of the past, break free from the holds trauma may have on your life, and build resilience for the future.
Our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another. I understand how difficult and uncomfortable it can be to open up and share intimate details of your life with someone you just met. Therefore, we will move at your own pace, as I recognize the need for safety and trust in order to effectively process traumatic experiences. During our initial session, I may gather background information you feel comfortable discussing, review any assessments you may have completed, and explore your goals for therapy. I will also encourage you to ask any questions you may have about my approach or about therapy in general!
I embrace a unique counseling experience that goes beyond traditional methods. Within my holistic approach, I utilize evidenced-based mindfulness practices and trauma-focused techniques including EMDR and components of play and expressive arts therapies to enhance the mind-body connection and cultivate self-awareness, empowerment, and healing.
I am trained in TF-CBT and use it as a guiding framework for treating individuals with trauma. It provides an outline for learning about trauma, relaxation and emotional regulation strategies, finding thought solutions to unhelpful beliefs, and processing trauma in a safe and client centered way.
My practice is Polyvagal Theory informed, meaning I conceptualize trauma neurobiologically attributing to automatic responses from your nervous system to respond to potential threats (fight, flight, freeze, fawn.) I utilize somatic based approaches to help soothe and regulate nervous system trauma reactions.
I incorporate mindfulness-based practices into treatment as a means of learning coping skills and improving daily functioning. I am also trained in trauma-informed yoga and breathwork practices.
I am trained to provide EMDR therapy to those who have experienced trauma or would like to replace unhelpful beliefs.
