Hi, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Pennsylvania. I have a Masters degree from West Chester University and two decades of experience providing school-based mental health services. I help children, adolescents, and teens with anxiety, depression, anger, social skills deficits, and low self-esteem. I've helped clients manage relationships, resolve conflict, learn social skills, and develop healthy habits that allow them to utilize their strengths to develop a more positive outlook on life.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I know how scary it can be to start counseling with someone new, so think of our first session as a more casual chat that allows me to get to know you. I will allow you to tell your story and highlight key issues you're currently experiencing. Tell me as much or as little information as you are comfortable with sharing. The more information you provide, the better I will be able to help.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Students and clients have complimented my ability to listen non-judgmentally, my calm demeanor when addressing serious issues, my creativity in addressing problems, my sense of humor, and my general personableness. I genuinely enjoy encouraging clients and students to form positive perceptions of themselves and to develop healthy habits of body and mind.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I utilize CBT strategies with clients to help challenge their negative thinking, re-frame skewed perspectives, and recognize the connection between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to break negative patterns impacting their quality of life. I then work with clients to create new thought patterns that are more realistic and helpful.

Psychoeducation

I have extensive experience in providing psychoeducational support in the form of social skills training, trauma-informed care, and behavior management strategies to students, parents, and teachers. I've worked with students with ADHD and Emotional Disturbance who struggle with impulsivity and disruptive behaviors in the classroom. I have also provided students with autism lessons on developing social awareness, conversational skills, and perspective-taking.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I provide clients with multiple mindfulness tools to relieve anxiety and bring them into the present moment, including grounding techniques, progressive muscle relaxation, diaphragmatic breathing, gratitude, and object identification. I like to tailor these interventions to fit client interest and resources.

Trauma Informed Care

I have been trained in trauma-informed care and have also trained teachers and school staff on its principles and methods in the classroom. When working with clients who have experienced trauma, it is vital to provide a safe environment and to bring this sense of safety, however temporary, to their consciousness. I incorporate this knowledge into psyschoeducational practices by teaching clients about their brains, emotions, and behavioral responses. Mindfulness techniques also help to relieve one's "trauma brain" in the moment and put clients in a better mental state to process particular isssues and develop coping skills.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

A person-centered approach is foundational to my practice. I value each client as a human being and employ empathic listening while encouraging clients to feel confident in being their true selves and make decisions that align with their values.
