Hi! I am Catherine Herron and I am a Licenced Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) in North Carolina. I have been practicing for almost 4 years. I gravitated towards this career because of the joy I find helping others. I work with adults that are struggling with anxiety, stress, maintaining work-life balance, substance abuse, anger, and who suffer from various traumatic experiences. By working together in a safe and empathetic space, I believe we can navigate even the most difficult moments towards healing and empowerment.
In our first session together we will focus on building trust and understanding. I will explain the therapy process, listen to the clients concerns, and collaborates with them to establish goals for treatments.
As a mental health provider, my greatest strengths lie in my ability to cultivate a safe and supportive environment where clients feel heard, valued, and understood. I build strong therapeutic relationships, empower clients to explore their challenges and strengths, and stay updated on the latest evidence-based practices to provide effective support tailored to the clients needs.
I work with adults of all ages and all walks of life, but I find fulfillment in supporting individuals who are committed to their growth and willing to confront challenges head on. I appreciate clients who are open to exploring their thoughts and feelings, willing to challenge themselves, and committed to making positive change in their lives. Collaboration is key component to this and I value clients who are willing to build a trusting and supportive relationship.
CBT is my most used technique for the past several years. It challenges the client to challenge tier automatic thinking to create a different outcome. This is used frequently in sessions through talk therapy and homework.
I have been trained in EMDR for a year. I introduce EMDR to clients after we have made progress with the immediate concerns that they are struggling with. Once the client feels they are in a better place we use EMDR to resolve root traumas that are affecting them.
Solution Focused Treatment is used to help the client gain tools quickly. This empowers them manage current areas of concern. This is a collaborative effort between the clinical and client.
