Hello and welcome to my Grow Therapy Profile. I’m Leann and I look forward to meeting you. Are you struggling just to make it through the day? Do you feel like life has taken its toll on you and each day just takes much more strength and motivation than you have to give? I am passionate about working with adult clients who are coping with depression and anxiety. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with active licenses in Connecticut, California, New York, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Georgia. I have experience with teenagers coping with social problems, depression, bipolar, and the struggles of living through that life stage. I have been trained in a few different trauma treatments including trauma-focused CBT, and I am experienced at working with individuals with high-functioning autism. I have been working in the field for the last 10 years and am eager to be your anchor and offer you a new sense of hope.
In the first session, I'll start by introducing myself, explaining the role of therapy and the specific rules we follow, then I'll ask questions about the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me to better understand what you are going through, what type of therapy will be most effective for you, and how I can best help you. We will work together to develop an initial treatment plan based upon your individual strengths and needs.
I believe my biggest strengths are my sense of empathy and understanding and the ability I have to listen actively and truly hear what it is my clients have been through and the direction their life is taking. I believe my niche is in treating depression and anxiety in all ages. I enjoy working with teenagers but I also enjoy working with elderly clients equally. My experience working with children and teens has helped me to be more effective working with individuals on the autism spectrum. I believe in empowering clients to deal with their struggles head on and to feel more confident in their abilities, and I would love the opportunity to help you in this way.
I will use Cognitive Behavioral techniques to assist my clients in exploring how their thoughts and feelings influence their physical and bodily reactions to their experiences and how these interactions continue to interfere with their personal well-being.
I utilize a few different mindfulness techniques with clients to assist them in being more aware in the moment and being able to make decisions based upon what is going on around them and recognizing how they are influenced by their intrusive thoughts that take them outside of the present moment.
I do provide education on various topics related to the problems that my clients are experiencing to help them better understand what is going on.
I use a variety of strategies aimed at helping my clients to feel safe again and to heal from past traumatic experiences that continue to influence their daily lives.
