Thank you for considering me for your personal mental health therapist and emotions coach. The last few years have been traumatic, distressing, and challenging in ways that have caused us to adjust our traditional views of the world or revise how we will continue to survive within it. Many have chosen to grasp tightly onto their conventional beliefs in search of comfort in what they find to be familiar. We have been impacted by trauma in one way or another but not all of us have the recourse to fall back on our inner strengths and continue with our capacity to be resilient. We get trapped in feelings of hopelessness and fatigue. We need someone to guide us and bring us back out from the darkness, back into the light. I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional who has over 15 years of experience with counseling and 20 years of experience serving families. My treatment philosophy is to utilize psychotherapy and clinical social work theories in a strength-based model to optimize coping skills and tools needed for your well-being. This is done through our building of trust, a good rapport, and growing a secure and confidential dyad supported by feelings of empathy, respect, and validation without furthering any pity or blame, you may have experienced in the past. My practice skills and interventions are best implemented through the use of Motivational Interviewing, Life Coaching Skills, and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy within a transformational change model.
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
Our initial session will focus on conducting a thorough biopsychosocial-spiritual-cultural and lethality/imminent danger assessment - don't worry it sounds more intimidating than it actually is, so try to relax and enjoy this safe place together. We will also discuss your consent to engage in therapy sessions and your understanding of how we will work together. During our next sessions, you will have your chance to just unwind and further express your reason for why you are seeking my service.
Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.
I have an history of working with minority youth males, and former military personnel. If I was to describe my past base clientele it would be men and people of color who have been impacted by racism, systemic issues, and who are adjusting to find their sense of comfort within society. I worked with the public school system and served youth of all races and gender identities. In the community I have worked with adults who were seeking court-ordered pre-divorce family counseling assessments.
