I am a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT) with over 8 years of experience dedicated to supporting clients through challenging life circumstances. My practice has been deeply enriched by working with adults facing severe and persistent mental illnesses such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder in day center settings, board and care homes, and through intensive community outreach. Additionally, I have had the privilege of supporting teens in crisis shelters and foster youth through therapeutic interventions, aiding their navigation of transitions and personal growth. Witnessing my clients' growth and success, as they move towards greater independence and well-being, has been incredibly rewarding. I believe in providing compassionate support tailored to each individual's needs, fostering resilience and personal empowerment. If you're ready to improve your mental health, please don't hesitate to contact me. Let's discuss how we can work together to support your journey toward well-being.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In the first session I provide a safe and non-judgmental space for clients to feel comfortable sharing parts of themselves they have not shared with others and ask any questions they may have. I then will ask the client questions geared toward learning more about them, their history, support group, and discuss goals for therapy.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have extensive experience supporting clients through challenging life circumstances such as homelessness, addiction, and involuntary hospitalizations. These experiences have shaped me into a patient, understanding, and caring provider. I approach therapy without hesitation, addressing topics that clients need to work through while ensuring they are ready to handle them. Continual learning is a priority for me, as I strive to provide the best possible support to my clients. Currently, I am undergoing training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and am enthusiastic about offering this powerful therapy to my clients. I have seen firsthand how beneficial EMDR can be in facilitating the healing process, and I look forward to integrating it into my practice to further support my clients' journeys toward wellness.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have extensive experience using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which was a primary treatment method emphasized in my graduate school program for its evidence-based effectiveness. In my practice, I integrate CBT by exploring with clients the connections between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, and collaboratively identifying goals for improving various aspects of their lives.

Eclectic

Throughout my career, I have acquired proficiency in various therapeutic modalities and appreciate the diverse benefits they offer. During sessions, I draw upon different treatment methods based on what I believe will best support the client at that particular moment.

EMDR

I have recently completed training in EMDR therapy and am enthusiastic about helping clients through this transformative healing process. While I currently focus on supporting clients dealing with trauma, depression, anxiety, overwhelm, and low self-worth, I want to acknowledge that I am not yet equipped to handle complex trauma, personality disorders, or dissociative symptoms that are often present in some cases. If you're considering EMDR therapy and would like to explore whether I can assist you based on my current skills and experience, please reach out for a consultation. Together, we can determine the best approach to support your healing journey.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

In my own life, I practice mindfulness and find it incredibly supportive in helping others feel less overwhelmed by their thoughts and more connected to the present moment. During sessions, I incorporate mindfulness by guiding individuals to take deep breaths and by teaching practical skills for daily use.

Positive Psychology

I am interested in specific elements of positive psychology that I believe can effectively transform our mindset from negative to neutral or positive. Engaging in practices such as gratitude and affirmations can yield significant power, even if their impact may not be immediately evident. Cultivating an environment that encourages self-worth reflection is a crucial component of the therapeutic journey.
