I'm happy your here! Hello, my name is Raquel. I am originally from Florida. I received my bachelor's and master's degrees from Florida A&M University. I am Licensed professional Counselor in the state of Georgia. I have been working in mental health for 10 years and have been working as a therapist for 8 years. My background is working with children, families, and young adults. I consider myself as a person-centered therapist. I believe that the client is the expert when it comes to themselves. As a person-centered therapist I am here to help navigate and help you explore different sides of yourself that maybe causing distress. I also, like to focus on helping my clients learn new skills in order to feel more sufficient in life. As a therapist I enjoy working with individuals who are open to learn more about themselves from a different perspective and willing to try techniques or recommendations in order to improve their quality of life.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

The first session will focus on rapport building, exploring if I am I good fit. We will also discuss reasons for therapy and discussed treatment goals.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I see myself as support to the client. My goal as a therapist to help my client(s) learn about themselves in order to functioning better or feel more self-sufficient.

My treatment methods

Person-centered (Rogerian)

As a therapist I believe in supporting my client(s) while helping them navigate through what has brought them to services. I am firm believer in "I do not know you more than you know yourself." As a therapist I am here to help you possibly learn new skills to help functioning better or feel more successful.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

As a therapist I believe I have had many of my client(s) have struggled with thoughts that have not been proven true and that results in distress and unpleasant feelings. I strive to help my client(s) challenge these thoughts in order to help them experience less distress and improve their overall functioning.

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

As the therapist I believe the best way to build rapport and support my client(s) is by making an attempt to understand their cultural background in order to help identify interventions that will help them reach their goals while respecting their cultural background.
