*Currently accepting new clients via telehealth." The therapeutic process can be a catalyst for finding greater insight, release and change and can lead toward a renewed mind, body and spirit. Connecting with a counselor is an important decision and connecting with one who understands you and can meet you at your point of need is essential. The therapeutic process involves a team approach with the ultimate goal being greater health, well-being and wholeness. I value your trust and sincerely appreciate your consideration in inviting me to join you along your journey where I will meet you with respect, empathy and a solution focus. I have over 15 years experience in the field of mental health and provide assessment and treatment for issues including, but not limited to depression, anxiety, anger management, stress management, attachment, adjustment/life transitions, and grief and loss.
While there is structure to the therapeutic process and a focus on specific goals, you can expect me to hold space for you and provide a therapeutic environment that is safe, empathic, and non-judgmental and one where you are met with compassion, acceptance, authenticity, hope and humor. My role is to journey with you and offer insight into your experiences to help you gain greater self-awareness and overall well-being.
I utilize several treatment methods, including but not limited to cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), insight oriented therapy, person centered therapy, and solution focused brief therapy; and provide you with the tools to identify and reframe negative thoughts that contribute to maladaptive behaviors, practice new coping skills, set goals, problem-solve, and self-monitor or self-assess.
Seeking a therapist can be an overwhelming process- fear and anxiety of the unknown, not knowing what to expect, perception and/or mis-perception of therapy, and not having a positive prior experience. In nearly 20 years of actively participating in this work, while I continue to work on enhancing and honing my skills, I have gained perspective and insight from working in several different arenas including inpatient psychiatric care, outpatient care, corrections, and child welfare. My greatest strengths are self-awareness (including limitations); establishing strong therapeutic rapport; an open mind (acceptance of diverse worldviews/perspectives, cultural sensitivity); clear verbal communication (boundaries); and active listening skills.
